Clock Tower

It is a large and iconic building with six clocks installed on different sides and is majorly used as a landmark. Inaugurated in 1953, the Clock Tower is one of the oldest buildings in the city. A closer peek will make you see the names of Dehradun's freedom fighters engraved on its surface. The new clock tower was inaugurated in 2016. This monument is 85m tall and has six faces each of which had an impressive clock. Traffic is a bit congested here during peak hours.

Located in the middle of the Town, locally called ghanta Ghar.
Quite busy during the days but you can enjoy around (market and all) during evening or night. Dont forget to eat ice cream at famous Gaylords.

The area around clock tower is bit crowded.
You will get the direct city bus for FRI, Tapkeshwar Mahadev mandir, Dehradun Zoo ( Malsi Dear park) and for other places also in just ₹20-50 (depends on the distance) . Paltan bazar is situated just in front of the clock tower and goes upto Dehradun Railway Station.

Nothing exciting to visit this place in morning.
I'll suggest to visit this in night coz it looks better in night lighting.Just a drive through place. Can get out of the vehicle and take a few selfies when the traffic is lesser. Its colourful and well-out during the evenings with a basic fountain around.

Note: Preferably Don't park or halt anywhere around the 300-400 m range of the clock tower though, you may be fined by the cops around.It can be said as the centre of Dehradun.

It's a beautiful place and a convenient spot for going to any place in dehradun. One can also take an auto from here for old mussorie road and maggie point. You will also find a market around the clock tower, so if you want to go shopping , you can surely go to this beautiful place.
