Ampthill Downs - The Farm Stay

Have been coming here for 4 years now. Quiet, cozy, quaint and old school, bare minimum kinda place. If you are expecting a 3 star resort experience, then look elsewhere. If you like to hike, appreciate nature's beauty, star gaze, spot the occasional wildlife, eat local cuisines etc this place is right for you. Personally, I'm a huge fan of this place and it's surroundings

Firstly, if you're someone who wants to be treated like a Prince and have every luxury and people to serve your every need. This isn't a place for you .

However, it was absolutely perfect for my crew. We had an amazing cabin for ourselves with an immaculate view of the sloped hills.

I have never felt thos level of privacy and freedom to explore nature with peace. Zero disturbances

You will find limited people staying. And the high prices may have something to do with this as well. But rightly so, you pay high costs to have acres of nature to yourselves. The place is kept pristine. A hidden gem with zero littering.

If anything could improve, it would be the food. This is just subjective and personal, I would've expected some spicy kerela style meat curry. But I found it a little bland. But my friends enjoyed it. And the service was great.

The best place to stay if you love seclusion, nature and peace..Homley food and great staff. We visit this place twice a year for the past 10 years..

The place is so wonderful and the View is Amazing and Beautiful. Rate is High But Food Is pretty good . We went woth Friend s and it was such a amazing Day in our life

What a wonderful place it is. A must visit if you want to stay peacefully outside all the hustle of those crowded places. Mr.cherian sir it's a awesome place will visit every year.

If you are about to introspect yourself, this is the right place for you..A calm, meditative and peaceful hideout with enough and more place to walk, run and explore. This place make you realize the length of your day and beauty of your life..❤❤❤

A must place to visit. I recently stayed at this place with 4 adults and 2 children, this is located in a remote area. A beautiful hidden garden, maintained well by Mr. Babu Cherian. The staffs are really good, especially Anoop, he took good care of us. The room service people Abishek and Ramesh did their job without any hesitation as and when we requested. Also the food that we need to talk about, I wanted to specially appreciate "Ram the Cook". Our kids loved his food, it wasn't that spciy but it was so tasty, often we requested for Tea and Balck tea it was also tasty.

Overall a nice place for a people to stay out of the crowd and get along with a nature.

Amazing place for family and friends stay. Food served by them was fantabulous and service was good. You can have a peaceful stay and relaxation with this stay. Perfect place

10 of us stayed here for 2 nights at Rs. 2500 per person including food. Min. charges are 15k per night for 6 people. So it’s better, at-least financially, that 6 of you go.
There is absolutely no Airtel connectivity. Jio and Vi connectivity is good.

The location is absolutely fantastic. It’s literally like a heavenly scenery that one would have seen in their childhood. The place is in absolutely pristine condition brimmed with pure nature’s beauty. You would not want to miss staying here in your life.

Ashwin, at the property was great and readily available for all our needs.
We had a great memorable experience that will be cherished for years to come.

Amazing place with excellent hospitality. We really enjoyed it!

The service is very good. The rooms were also very comfortable we are enjoying the stay. We were also enjoying the beautiful climate.
You can't say enough about how much we loved the food and guys don't miss their south Indian style chicken curry and rice.
We are also eagerly awaiting the next opportunity we are hoping to join in the coming season

The place like heaven and good and friendly staff. Room was average but location was amazing.

Additional 5 stars for the service, staff and location. Ampthill is prudently located in the midst of unexplored grasslands of kodai. Drive from kodai to poondi is mesmerizing taking you through the lush green vegetations and pine trees. Assured pleasantness at serene Ampthill equally matched by hospitality of Mr Babu and team. Polur falls in the vicinity is worth the visit. Special mention Amal and Anup for their exceptional care

We stayed in this property for three days, it was a great experience. Property is well maintained and excellent service starts from the check in to check out. Rooms are well maintained, especially the restrooms. Don’t miss any meal at the property, it is fantastic with the authentic Kodai taste. Cant wait to go back to this place once the lockdown is over.

Ampthill's cottages are typical of the colonial architecture found around these parts, built out of stone, with wooden floors and fireplaces; nestled on undulating and green "downs", amidst an expansive 60-acre property. It's one of the most serene places I've ever visited. I now visit every year. Go there if you want a picturesque place to unwind and soak in the natural beauty of the region. The staff is very courteous and the food is outstanding.

My stay in Ampthill was life changing! I loved everything about the place. The house had one huge hall with a sofa and 3 beds and another room with one bed which accommodates 7-8 guests comfortably. The cabin was cosy and has two fireplaces. We got two complementary bonfires. There’s also one right outside the house which again is just the perfect place. The house was super clean. No bed bugs nothing to complain about at all. We had enough blankets but just carry warmer blankets if you’re sensitive to cold. It might get really cold at night.

The hosts were so warm and friendly. They heeded to every request we made. They were always just a phone call away. Goutham and Russel are just the best. If you’re lucky you can even listen to them jam for you! They’re absolutely lovely! We had such a great time with them. The cook and the others who are part of this property are very welcoming too.
Not to forget the two adorable dogs Brownie and Junior who made our time there absolutely beautiful! ♥

The food was heavenly! It was always hot and yum! They also ask you your choice and cook accordingly. To remember a few, we had idli, biriyani, Roti chicken curry, rice with any curry of our choice, dosa.

The property is huge! There’s a lake to explore, and green lawn everywhere. You can sit in the middle of nowhere and vibe. There’s also a route to poondi lake through the forest in Ampthill. You should try that! Trek in the woods.

Isolated getaway about 90 minutes from Kodaikanal. Rustic and functional/basic accommodation set in a pretty large property- understand 50 acres or so.
Tasty home cooked food.
Clear black skies full of stars made for an enchanting evening around a bonfire. A bit of the local wildlife included 10 species of birds, deer, hare, boar etc. The large open meadows were great for the children to run around and choose their own private spaces to relax and have fun. Family and pet friendly. As were 4 families, some of the children were placed in an upper cottage adjacent to the dining verandah.
Good staff who are attentive to your needs. Will visit again.

Exactly a dreamy spot, food was on point as well. Great place to spent some good time with family and friends, away from all the rush and race of cities and traffic. Management was amazing as well. Didn't face much issues in the whole time we stayed there

Excellent out of the way stay. Very well maintained.
We had stayed for a weekend getaway and took the whole cottage. Two bedrooms with fire places , 5 beds.

Fortunately for us the night got clear and it was heavenly, looking up at the stars.

The road is a little difficult towards the cottage, but a Sedan with decent ground clearance should be able to navigate.

Poondi is the place to visit if you want the calm and quiet, there are magnificent waterfalls, check dams and picturesque views.
Update, went for a second time, roads from kodai are much better now!.
We had some bisons visit us in the night..
