|| মা গুপ্তমনি মন্দির ||

প্রায় সাড়ে চারশো বছরের পুরোনো ঝাড়গ্রামের গুপ্তমনি মন্দির।

কেউ বলেন বনদেবী। কারও কাছে বনদুর্গা। এখানে পুজো হয় পাথরে। ব্রাহ্মণ পুরোহিত নন। শবরদের দুর্গা পুজো পান শবরদের হাতেই।

কথিত আছে, ঝাড়গ্রামের জঙ্গলে গুপ্ত অবস্থায় ছিলেন উমা। গোপন-পথ পাহারায়। মহারাজ মল্লদেব অথবা শবর অধিপতি দেবীর নাম দেন গুপ্তমনি।

রাজস্ব ও রাজ্যরক্ষায় গুপ্তপথ তৈরি করেন ঝাড়গ্রামের রাজা নরসিংহ মল্লদেব। গুপ্তপথে অতর্কিত হামলায় বহু যুদ্ধও জয় করেন মল্লরাজ। তবে যাদের হারিয়ে মল্লদেবের এত প্রতিপত্তি, সেই শবরপতি নন্দ ভুক্তা আবিষ্কার করে ফেলেন সেই পথ। সেখান থেকেই গল্পের শুরু। রাজার হারিয়ে যাওয়া হাতির খোঁজ মেলে গুপ্তপথের সামনে। গাছের লতাপাতা দিয়ে বাঁধা রাজহস্তি। মল্লদেব বোঝেন, শবরপতি নন্দ ভুক্তা হদিশ পেয়ে গিয়েছেন গুপ্তপথের। তখনই সন্ধির কৌশল। যদিও এ গল্পে জড়িয়ে যায় স্বপ্নাদেশের মিথ।
বুদ্ধিমান রাজা জঙ্গলের ওই গোপন পথ রক্ষার দায়িত্ব দেন শবরদেরই। বীর শবররাই বুক দিয়ে আগলে রাখেন রাজমহল। সেই থেকে শুরু গুপ্তমনির পুজো।

এখানে পুজো হয় পাথরের। যে পাথর আড়াল রেখেছে গুপ্তপথের। ওই পাথরের উপরই ঘট বসিয়ে হয় পূজার্চনা। এই মন্দিরে চন্ডীপাঠ হয় না। যে যেভাবে পারেন , সেভাবেই পুজো দেন। মন্দিরে জ্বলে শুধুই মোমবাতি আর প্রদীপ। দূর্গাপূজার সময় পূজা লোক সমাগম হয়।

যাত্রাপথ : হাওড়া থেকে ট্রেনে খরগপুর। খরগপুর থেকে গোপিবল্লভপুর বা ঝাড়গ্রাম যাওয়ার যে কোনো বাসে উঠে গুপ্তমনির মন্দির বললেই নামিয়ে দেবে।
