A historical site will always be top rated for me simply for it being witness of the past and ancient history. The ruins of the barracks and buildings now remain only traces of the majestic fort that it would have once been. The view of the sea and river from the fort is breathtaking spectacular specially at sunset. Wish the ruins could speak and tell us tales of grandeur.

The fort is in the top of the mountain. Little walk to reach to the top of the fort. Kids enjoyed playing, they were playing with the rocks. Nice view of Vagator beach from the fort. If you come in the evening you will get a good sunset view for lots of pics and you can enjoy more. We went to a place that we can make our memories in the fort. Fort closes at 5 pm so make sure you reach before 5. There are small shops which sell coconuts , water bottles and other snacks. We ate Guava and drank coconut water while coming back.
Fort is fully ruined only the outer wall is present.

Chapora Fort, a timeless sentinel of Goa's history, whispers its tales through ancient stones. Its construction, a marvel of antiquity, stands as a testament to architectural excellence. Tourists, drawn like moths to a flame, are entranced by its magnetic charm. The fort's history, rich and storied, weaves itself into the very fabric of the land.

One of the best view of beach is available from this fort. Good place to take pictures as well. Try to go during late evenings around 4pm so that scorching sun can be avoided. This is famous Dil Chahta Hai fort, where one of the scene was shot here.

One of the highlights of our North Goa tour. Had to climb a few steps; but the view above was stunning. The fort is in ruins and this makes the place even more beautiful. Experienced a wonderful sunset.

Beautiful fort featured in Dil Chahta Hai movie. Has a little trek to reach the view point and the view is absolutely stunning from there. I had visited in September.. Must visit in early hours or in evening because the sun gets really hot when high.

This ancient laterite fort on the Chapora river, although long since abandoned from a military standpoint, is nevertheless majestic and an enduring historical monument. Known for its spectacular views and sunset vistas, this is a popular spot for tourists to visit especially in the evenings.

Although little remains of the barracks and other buildings that once stood within the forts embrace, it continues to attract historical buffs, who know about the great battles that were once fought here. To the average visitor however, it is a collection of sturdy, irregularly shaped walls, with just a hint of secret tunnels that can be found by the keen observer.

More recently, Chapora Fort’s biggest claim to fame is that it was the fort used during the filming of the Hindi blockbuster film ‘Dil Chahta Hai’ (the heart desires), a 2001 comedy-drama movie starring Aamir Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Akshaye Khanna, Preity Zinta, Sonali Kulkarni and Dimple Kapadia. In fact, it is often known as the ‘Dil Chahta Hai’ fort, after the movie gained cult status.

The fort is best visited in the evenings, once the fierce afternoon heat has receded. It offers a spectacular view over the peninsula, the Chapora River and the beaches of Chapora, Anjuna and Vagatore. It is also a great place to watch the panorama of a fiery sunset over the Arabian Sea. This alone, makes a visit and the climb up to the Chapora fort, more than worthwhile
No ticket is required to visit this place
