Postal Museum Karanji Mansion Mysore

The postal museum housed in Karanji Mansion at Mysore displays a number of ancient postal services related articles and artifacts and records.

The museum is located in a portion of the mansion and it could be maintained in a more better and professional manner.

On either side of the entrance are large size images of the ancient dak runners with their load of postal articles on their shoulders.

The museum showcases badges, spears, weights, weighing scales, receipt books, log books, ledgers, lanterns used by the runners, Acknowledgment receipt books, Nizam Post orders and circulars, Postal records, Manual of procedures, Heavy duty ring and hook scales etc.

Old heritage post boxes of Travancore era and British era are housed outside the building. There are a number of photos and posters on postal history evolution.
