This is one of the very informative museum that we have visited. Museum is well maintained and it is worth visiting.

Closing time is bit early, so you need to plan your visit accordingly. They should have allowed photography inside.

I would recommend this place for children. They would love it...

One of its kind in the Country. Insect museum is in Coimbatore only developed by TN Agriculture University. Lot of useful information at one place available about insects which are about 90% of animal life on Planet. They charge nominal fee and photos and video not allowed inside. Recommend everyone to visit while in Coimbatore.

Lovely museum which showcases large variety of insects. The beauty is the way in which they are organized. You can see varieties like butterflies, moth, silk worms, borers, beetles, bugs, locusts etc. Many have a history like from the origin to the endlife. They have smart TV's which will display particular information about the insects. They also have guides who will explain about the collections. People from all ages will like the museum.

The Museum is may be one of its kind in the Country. The varied range of species and number of specimens kept is brilliant. The AV monitors kept in each gallery plays very relevant content and gels very well with the tour. The highlight is the separate apiary outside the Museum. Consisting of a varied range of bee species, it is an excellent place for gaining a sea of knowledge about insects.

The Insect Museum in TNAU is the first and unique museum of its kind located inside the TNAU campus, Coimbatore. It has specimens and collections of insects of economical and ecological importance. Huge collections of insects are preserved and decorated into various shapes and structures which looks impressive.

Firstly, you will be recieved by a huge Albezia tree trunk which has manually carved insects of each of the 29 major orders of the Class Insecta.

Next, you will see a huge wooden carving of Violin mantis which appears as if it welcomes you.

You will see a large number of different types of insects ranging from beneficial insects, Insect pests and insect of ecological importance.

There are some interesting things about insects kept in the museum like artifacts made of insects, edible insects, movies made based on insects and literary works describing insects.
At last , you will find termite hills and other interesting things here.

Fee is ₹ 50/- for adults and ₹ 30 /- for students and children if they have ID card.

No photography or videography is allowed inside the museum.

If you have to trade between the GASS Museum and the Insect Museum then you MUST go to the Insect Museum. It is not only maintained well but so much information is available and also in the context of India. I would like to say this is top class, the designers have done a fantastic job.
They don't allow photos but that is fine.

One of the most exciting and interesting museums that I have visited. Didn't know that inspects form a major portion of our ecosystem. Original specimens and models are presented in the most interesting manner with AVs playing at each section to highlight everything that is to be known about the species. Only one of it's kind in India. Do visit with your children

Good place to visit. Learn about insects. Place is building up. I see that the opposite botanical park is also being renovated. Thanks to the management to take such initiative. The place is brand new so looks nice. Hope they keep updating the exhibits and maintain it well. Kids enjoyed a lot. They have a theatre which shows few science documentaries.
