Deepak Tal

It is a Serene, lovely, picturesque lake , right on the Manali- Leh highway in the Lahaul region. It has clear water with bluish hue. It is clean and tidy and has icy cold water. It is surrounded by mountains and provides an excellent stop over and one can take beautiful pictures here. It's approx. 115 km (3hrs) from Manali. Visited in the end of month of May amidst snow clad peaks 🏔. This place is a must visit place if you’re in Manali.
There’s a lot of lush green space around the lake where you can sit and enjoy the view and nature.

A good place to sit and enjoy the view. There are few food stalls for easy eating and yes you can have Maggie there sitting by the tal.

Deepak Tal is located at an altitude of 3750 metres. It's small but a very scenic lake you will see while traveling towards Baralacha La Pass. The waters here are calm, crystal clear and surrounded by snow capped peaks.

The water of Deepak Tal also acts like a mirror reflecting the beautiful surroundings. Boating was not available when I visited in Jun'23. There are couple of dhabas, roadside eateries available close by in case one wants to eat. Would suggest wearing warm clothes here.

About Deepak Tal : It is about 50kms from Keylong along with Leh-Manali Highway(NH-21). A clear sunny day makes the site much more beautiful and heavenly looking. Water of the lake is crystal clear and cold as Ice.

I went there in the month of August, so the temperature was not as cold as it would be during winters. During winters, the lake is frozen.

Suggestion : The air is thin at the high altitudes and some may suffer breathlessness. So, the best thing is to avoid unnecessary physical activities.
The obligatory duty is to keep the area clean and take the trash back with you, because there is no such concept of garage management at such isolated areas.

Respect the locals, and respect the traditions.

Deepak Tal is a beautiful small emerald green lake at the Baralacha La Pass on the Leh-Manali highway. It is about 50 km from Keylong. The lake water is crystal clear and ice cold. The color changes with the sun.
In winter, the lake freezes. It is surrounded by mighty peaks with beautiful views. On your way to Baralacha La Pass you must stop here and capture some of the scenery.
At high altitudes the air is thinner and some may suffer from shortness of breath.Hence, it is best to avoid unnecessary physical activity.
We must keep the area clean and take the garbage with us, as there is no concept of garbage management in such an isolated area.

Greenish blue coloured alpine lake is on the way to baralacha pass. It's a small lake but really beautiful. One can walk by the side of the lake and go to another side but it's very narrow and tricky.
All together you must stop at this lake if travelling to baralacha pass or leh from manali

Beautiful magnificent view. Water is crystal clear and cold in any any season. The reflection of mountains into the water is beautiful that even pictures don't do justice.

Stunning location! Nice place to rest on your journey. It is important to respect the sanctity of the place by keeping it clean and tidy. There is also a tiny shop there for you to buy some water.

If you guys are running short of time or money and cannot afford Ladhak but still want to enjoy the road and differ landscape this is the place. I have been here like 15 times and it's always something different.

Very beautiful high altitude lake. Colours change with sun. Although some tourists leave behind plastic waste and glass bottles which is quite disappointing

Beautiful Deepak tal lake with blue waters, it was so amazing and beautiful that one would lost here, if you are travelling through leh manali highway do stop here and enjoy the view and click pictures and videos with friends and family, once in a lifetime experience. Amazing place to be at, calm and serene lake (Tal) enjoy Maggi and Tea when you are here. On the way to Barlachla Pass this place a must stop by!

Himachal is full of taals but this one is unique because :
1. If you are lazy bum like me, you can reach to this place right on your bike, car, truck or anything which moves.

2. When i visited this lake was totally frozen, so this was even more bliss. Maybe someone visiting in summers may not see same view but it will be great around that time as well.

A beautiful place to spend quality time. This is like 40 mins ahead of Jispa. Superb road and scenic beauty 👌
