GDC KOKERNAG is one of the developed colleges in the vicinity and it has well developed lawns and sports ground apart from well maintained classrooms with LED Boards and infrastructure.

Government Degree Collge Kokernag was established in April, 2008. The College was first housed in Government Higher Secondary School Kokernag and due to non availability of infrastructure only Arts stream with limited Subjects was taught in the college. However, the College has been shifted to its own building at the village Irkumoo on Oct 17 2015.
The new college campus is spread over fifty four (54.0) kanals of land the invigorating mountain air ,the calm and serenity the densely clad hills and the snow capped mountains in the background enhance the beauty of the college campus. The only sound heard in the college campus is that of serenely blowing light wind during evening times and that of the Brengi Nallah (Brengi River) flowing from the north.

It is very nice college all prof. Work hardly especially Prof. Javid Majid wani (environment science) Who is kind to all students and staff members. He is very intelligent .
