It is a must visit museum. Cover this along with Silver cascade falls.

This will be on the way from the Coimbatore/Ooty/Pilani route. If you are travelling from Madurai to Kodaikanal, then you'll have to plan this accordingly.

This is a splendid place to visit if you are really interested in history and culture. If you are visiting Kodaikannal this museum should be your starting place as it will increase awareness on the scenic beauty and the history of this place in fact the whole mountain range. My interest was on the many varieties of birds, animals, reptiles, insects and there sequence of collection. It is pretty amazing to witness the hard work of the Jesuits who collected the stuff for years. Pay a visit and mark my words you will feel the might as you enter.

It was really great to be there. I visited during the winter. Though the weather was freezing, the days were amusement.
And the museum is worth visiting with an affordable entry fee (₹30/adult and ₹10/child). The museum's staffs were kind and humble. They've exhibited ancient stones and coins also the burial pot. Also we could find the skeletons of animals and reptiles, the skins of giant pythons. The growth of the baby is exhibited. There were enormous variety of butterflies and snakes.
In addition, handcrafted ornaments are available for sale.
Restrooms facilities are also provided as well.

It's one of the best museums. Even though it's small, it's well-maintained and highly beneficial for the generation. You can spend 30 to 40 minutes here.

The place is vastly under-rated. It's not as big as the natural history museums we see attached with the big zoos in India, but the have an amazing collection far bigger than we'd imagine.

It can be covered when going to returning from Kodaikanal (Madurai side). It's not a detour but a short cut. Good clean toilet facility is available. Very nominal fee for a good collection. May require 30min. Do checkout the crafts store to support the home's children.

Wonderful place which can truly be mentioned as Museum. I was there is this Museum some 25 years back as a child. So amazing to see the changes after a half century. The Museum is well maintained with varieties of real animals, birds, reptiles and insects. Also we have variety of stones, skeletons, coins and etc to see and enjoy it. We are so fortunate to see the rare Kurinji Flowers that blossoms once in 12 years, i enjoyed every bit and pieces in this Museum. Well maintenance from Sacred Heart college administration.

Kodaikanal musuem -
Around 4 km from Kodaikanal, eastwards downhill from the main town, the Sacred Heart Natural Science museum is an enthralling mix of natural biology of the region, both in attractive and gory form. One of the main tourist attractions in Kodaikanal, this museum houses an exceptional collection of over 500 species of birds, insects and animals as well as another exquisite collection of flora of more than 300 orchid species. Slightly daunting but highly informative, this museum also has on display a collection of ancient artifacts of the people of Palaiyar tribe who resided here.

The collection at Sacred Heart Natural Science museum has been put together in a span of around 100 years by the caretakers. You can see a variety of bottled giant moths, human embryos, snakes, stuffed animals and photographs of priests. The museum also has Kurinji flowers on display. This flowers blossoms only once in 12 years.

Its a completly very old museum which was started by British.
Tickets rate
Adults - Rs. 20
Below 10 years - Rs. 10

A good place to visit with slightly older kids especially those who are interested in biology. Apart from the extensive space utilization (that wows you) spending some time to read the text is very useful as well. They provide insight on how the museum to be and the work behind it.
I commend on the maintenance of the museum which is top notch and the display themselves which are extremely good as well.
