The British Residency in Lucknow is a captivating journey through history. This site holds profound significance, having witnessed the tumultuous events of the First War of Indian Independence in 1857.

The well-preserved ruins and structures offer a poignant glimpse into the past. As you walk through the complex, you can almost feel the echoes of the past, from the grandeur of the Banqueting Hall to the somber remnants of Dr. Fayrer’s House.

The resilience of this place is astounding, considering the 87-day siege it endured during the uprising. The bullet holes and damaged walls tell a story of bravery and conflict.

The Archaeological Survey of India has done a commendable job in preserving this historical gem. The meticulous care taken to maintain the site allows visitors to appreciate its historical significance.

Visiting the British Residency is a powerful experience, a reminder of the sacrifices and struggles that shaped India's path to independence. It's a must-see for history enthusiasts and anyone eager to delve into the rich tapestry of India's past.

1. This place is located near the Imambara complex. Once you have completed the visit to Imambara proceed here in car (5 minutes).
2. The entry ticket is 25 Rs for offline and online 20 Rs.
3. Toilet is at the end and water facility at the entry.
4. The place is quite large with cemetery, museum, mosque and other structures. Do carry water and umbrella.

One of the most vintage architecture of Lucknow Residency is constructed in British era. There are walls in this big ground with shots of bullets and Cannon balls. It is beautiful and also beautifully maintained by the authorities. It is a good picnic area as you enter you see a big playground. I also have a museum. There is no eatingp place or canteen in this area you can take a walk there with your loved once. Basically it is mostly visited by couples. You can see foreigners here. Also ticket price are very low.
Closing time 5 PM
I will give it a three but it is very well maintained so 5 stars

Glimpses of modern Indian history. It is one of the existing proof of Indian slavery and revolt of 1857, the entire fort was attacked by revolutionaries, destructed.

The Residency in Lucknow is a historical complex that is a must-visit for anyone interested in Indian history. The complex was built in the 18th century and was the residence of the British Resident in Lucknow. It was the site of a siege during the Indian Rebellion of 1857, and the ruins of the buildings are a powerful reminder of the events that took place there.

The complex is well-maintained and there are plenty of signs to help you understand the history of the place. There is also a museum that houses exhibits about the Indian Rebellion of 1857.

I visited the Residency on a hot summer day, and it was a bit overwhelming at first. The complex is large and there are a lot of ruins to see. However, I was soon drawn in by the history of the place and I spent a few hours exploring.

I was particularly interested in the 1857 Memorial Museum. The museum houses exhibits about the Indian Rebellion of 1857, including weapons, uniforms, and photographs. It was a sobering experience to see the artifacts that were used in the war, and it made me appreciate the sacrifices that were made for Indian independence.

Overall, I had a great experience at the Residency. It is a fascinating place to learn about Indian history and I would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Lucknow.

Here are some additional points to know about the Residency:

The complex is open from 9am to 5pm, seven days

.
There is a sound and light show that is held every evening at 7pm. The cost of the show is ₹100 for adults and ₹50 for children.

The Residency is located in the heart of Lucknow, near the Hazratganj area. It is easily accessible by rickshaw, taxi, or bus.

I hope this helps!
