The foundation stone of the memorial was first laid in 1995. Earlier, the park was named Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Udyan. In 2002, it was renamed the Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Memorial and development work continued until 2002–03. In 2007, the park underwent further renovation and development. It was initially opened to the public on 14 April 2008 by Chief Minister Mayawati.

The entire memorial is built using red sandstone brought from Rajasthan. It is situated in the posh locality of Gomti Nagar, the largest planned residential colony in India. Cost of the memorial is estimated at 7 billion rupees.[3] Its name was changed from Ambedkar Park to Bhimrao Ambedkar memorial in May 2012.

Another recreational park in Lucknow - Hathi Park is one of the most renowned tourist attractions in the city for people of all ages. Blessed with verdant greenery, the park, Hathi Park is a perfect hangout spot in Lucknow to spend a quality evening with friends and family in the summer season. However, in winter season people can often be seen picnicking here. Symbolising the name of the park are the large elephant (Hathi) statues inside the park. Hathi Park is also a popular kid-friendly tourist place in Lucknow. For children, the park houses numerous swings and rides.Gently seated in a small tourist town in the southern part of Sikkim, Buddha Park is a must visit place by every traveller. This famous attraction serves as an important landmark to the Buddhist community; it was constructed on account of the 2550th birth anniversary of Lord Gautama Buddha in 2006.

It is a very good driving school and the trainers and their behavior are also very good. I would like to tell all of you that you should learn driving from them.

It's a wonderful place for kids and family. You can visit there and spend your whole day with you family. The giant white elephant is a point of attraction for kids. You can also swing there and have fun with your family.

It is a magnificent place for kids for teenagers and you can say almost for everyone. It was a major attraction at one time but now a days its not. Uphhhh.... The children can get into the elephant statue and play a lot. I liked it very much in my childhood it was a place I visited everything when I visited Lucknow

It is a beautiful place to visit with family. The main attraction of this park is a large statue of an elephant made by concrete and cement. There are also various types of swings and statues of animals like horse, rhino etc. The park's environment is eco friendly.

A happy family picnic spot (perhaps, the one of the oldest) once upon a time. However, nowadays, has lost its significance because of many new ones that have come up. I love it anyway.
