Sufia Masjid (مسجدِ صوفیاء)

One of the oldest mosque of Bhopal, built by the Nababs.Stolen in 80s and travelling places, a custom made antique crystal fountain is ready for its second innings. It would soon return to where it originally belonged-- on the lawns of Sufia masjid.
The mosque garden with proto-modern architecture had fountains made by Birmingham-based company F and C Oslers, said Mahira Salamuddin, municipal corporator and daughter of Naseem Salamuddin, a family friend of the Pataudis.She along with Auqaf-e-Shahi (royal waqf trust) a charitable trust controlled by the Pataudis, the erstwhile royal family of Bhopal, have proposed to restore the garden to its original glory.A short distance away from her palatial house, Darul Salam is the Sufia Masjid from where the Oslers made fountain was stolen. The mosque is a property of the Auqaf-e-Shahi."The Oslers fountain was recovered from Gwalior and returned to the family by the police some years ago," said Sharmila Tagore, widow of MAK Pataudi. The made-to-order fountain was among a few owned by the royal family in Bhopal. It has since been lying under lock at the flag staff house, residence of the Pataudi family in Bhopal.
Plans for redecorating the garden and restoration of the fountain are likely to be finalised during Tagore's visit to Bhopal

The grave of Nawab Hamid Ullah Khan and his relatives are in the courtyard of this mosque.

This is a beautiful mosque having a simple and elegant architecture. It was built by Nawab Sultan Jahan Begum who was the last lady ruler of Bhopal. This mosque is after a Sufi Saint Ziauddin. All Nawab family members used to observe their prayers in this mosque. It's an active place of worship and a popular land mosque. In the grave yard adjacent to the mosque the graves of Sultan Jahan Begum, Nawab Hamidulla Khan, relatives and most significant of Ziauddin which is quite simple. Having a very large garden with fountains which are not functioning. It's a major attraction.

You'll get internal peace if you go there, specifically for prayer.

This mosque situated at Ahmedabad palace koh-e-fiza known for its architecture and also old sitting of oblution wazu in mosque premises there is an separate space where graves of nawab hamidullah kha and nawab sultan Jahan Begum situated

Oh it's My Bhopal's Beautiful area of my choice where I feel relaxed and happy to go with my childrens. The last Nawab of Bhopal and his family's old palaces and some monuments are still here,some of their tombs are also here...

I have visited this mosque the management memeber of this place are very humble and this is a very natural and beautiful place for offering the namaj ❤

Very peaceful and beautiful mosque. Timings for Namaz-e-Juma starts at 1:15 PM. KHUTBA begins at around 1:10 PM

Very beautiful and historic Masjid

A fine example of the art deco architecture, though with a few unaesthetic modifications, the originality is somewhat compromised. Also the last ruler of Bhopal and his mother, the ruler before him are buried here.
