One of the beautiful temple in Ponda.

We always visit Mardol for darshan as Mahalasa is our Kuldevi.

Temple is big and beautiful. You also get mahaprasad after 12.30 PM Aarti in the canteen at very reasonable rate. Many times it's free for devotees.

Shri Mahalasa Narayani Temple, Mardol

The temple is located in Mardol, a small village in Ponda district of Goa. It is believed to have been built in the 16th century by the Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

The temple complex is spread over a large area and includes several shrines, including the main shrine of Mahalasa, as well as shrines to other deities such as Shantadurga, Vishnu, and Lakshmi. The temple also has a large garden, a pond, and a museum.

The main shrine of Mahalasa is located in the center of the temple complex. The goddess is depicted as a beautiful woman with four arms. She holds a sword, a shield, a lotus flower, and a conch shell.

The temple is a popular pilgrimage destination for Hindus from all over India. It is also a popular tourist destination, especially during the annual Mahalasa festival, which is held in the month of February.

My Experience

I visited Shri Mahalasa Narayani Temple in January 2024. I was immediately struck by the beauty and serenity of the temple complex. The gardens were well-maintained and the pond was a tranquil oasis.

I entered the main shrine and was awestruck by the sight of the goddess Mahalasa. She was even more beautiful than I had imagined. I felt a sense of peace and tranquility as I stood before her.

I spent several hours at the temple, praying and meditating. I felt a sense of connection to the divine mother and I left the temple feeling renewed and inspired.

Overall, I highly recommend Shri Mahalasa Narayani Temple to anyone interested in Hindu culture or spirituality. It is a beautiful and sacred place that is sure to leave a lasting impression.

Here are some things to keep in mind when visiting the temple:

The temple is open from 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM.
There is a small entry fee of ₹50 for adults and ₹25 for children.
Dress modestly when visiting the temple.
Be respectful of the other worshippers.

Mahalasa, one of the most worshipped place in Goa and boarder region.
Temple premises is very clean and neatly maintained.
Usually on full moon day there will be huge rush and one has to wait in queue for darshan.

Trust of this temple has made arrangements for stay to tourists.

Vehicle parking is approximately 500-600 meters from temple.

Today, I got a chance to explore this place, .I visited with my family and we really enjoyed it It is surrounded by nature with all the facilities like a rest room and some pooja stall. The only one problem I can see is parking there is no parking space you have to park your car over the road and there is not much space to reverse it. So park at your own risk. Apart from this I can't find any issue you can take a rest for a while inside the temple is less crowded and the saints are very polite and decent. Even one can get flowers and other things at 20 Rs .
