Aasifi Masjid

Asfi mosque located to the right of the gate of the Bara Imambara was built by Asaf-ud-Daula, the nawab wazir of Oudh ( from 26 January 1775 to 21 September 1797) and the son of Shuja-ud-Dowlah . Built on a two-storied plinth it consists of two tall minarets in the courtyard. One can get a clear view of the mosque from the top of the Bhulbhulaiya or maze, where the builder of the mosque is buried. This intricate maze has numerous passages, which can confuse the people to find the way out. A five-storied step-well (bowli) lies across the mosque is an added attraction. The mosque is opened only to the Muslims.

It is a part of Baba Imambara which is built by Nawab Asif-ud-daula and designed by d famous architect Kifayat-ullah. 😍This structure heritage is sculptured by Indo-Islamic design. 🌙Prayers r offered here on Fridays. D huge minarets and domes of d facade, add stars to d grandness of this mosque🕌

Asifi Masjid or Asifi Mosque is among the prime tourist attraction of Lucknow. Asifi Masjid is the part of famous Islamic monument Bara Imambara of the Lucknow.

Lucknow Nawab Asaf-ud-Daula has started construction of Bara Imambara in 1785 with prime object of generating employment for the natives.  This took about six years  [ work complete in 1791] and an investment of nearly one million rupees  for creating this fabulous Islamic monument.

Asifi Masjid, shrine named after the Nawab’s name is a construction inside the Bara Imambara. Asifi Masjid or Asifi Mosque is the last monument constructed without use of Iron and any help from the Europeans experts of building construction.

This might surprise many visitors to notice “Non Muslim is prohibited to enter the mosque” sign board just outside the Asfi Masjid Lucknow.

Designed by Kaifiat Ullah and and built by Nawab Asaf-ud-Daula in 1794 to create employment during the terrible famine of 1784. It is a part of Bara Imambara Complex and located in the north-western side of the courtyard in the complex.

Beautiful piece of architecture. Such a grand mosque.

I recently visited the Aasif Masjid in Lucknow and I was thoroughly impressed by the beauty and tranquility of the mosque. The architecture is stunning, with intricate designs and patterns adorning the walls and domes. The interior is spacious and well-lit, with a peaceful atmosphere that encourages reflection and contemplation.

The worshippers at the Aasif Masjid were also very welcoming and friendly, which added to the positive experience. The imam's sermons were insightful and delivered with passion, and there were also a variety of educational programs and activities available for attendees.

Overall, I highly recommend a visit to the Aasif Masjid for anyone in the Lucknow area. It's a beautiful and peaceful place that truly embodies the spirit of Islam.

Mughal Era masjid situated inside the Bada Imambara complex.

This is a mosque called "asafi mosque" . This mosque is built by nawab asaf ud daula(1775 - 1797) in 1784. This mosque is situated near the bada Imambara. There is special Islamic architecture on this mosque and this mosque is revered as one of the oldest ibadatgarhs of Lucknow. There are a lot of charming building, beautiful parks and natural beauty of river gomti front in lucknow so must visit once in your life in lucknow.

As non muslims are not allowed to enter viewed this from the top of Bara Imambara . Hope one day will come when people whether religious or not will be allowed to enter to view closely this outstanding work of art

One of the oldest mosques in Lucknow. The design and art is unbelievable. You have to see it to believe it. There is peace and feeling of holiness in this place. This place is very clean.

It always takes me back in time when ever i come back to Lucknow. These historical places are like frozen timezones. Surprisingly they have been thru many decades and still standing strong till date this have been possible by the joint efforts of the people and the governments (old or new) this place has a very important part of my life.
