Since 2020 there are gossips going on just outside the reading room, be it the one on the ground floor or the one on the first floor and little sensitivity shown towards other members studying inside.
Formation of groups and non academic discussions among the group members as a result, is the main reason behind it though you will be asked to lower down your voice if you were in their place.
There is no issue with the group members talking to each other unless repeated requests made to them are ignored blatantly and you are told that the head office wouldn't do anything if this issue were brought to their notice.
Such things don't happen at any other branch of HMHPL.
At times, this is what this seems to be all about. That members should be forced to complain to the head office about this as maybe this benefits the library members or someone else in some way or the other.
Was told specifically by a member 'Don't worry! Just write the complaint. I will send it to the head office on your behalf' and this proves the last statement.
