Kozhikode, a much-sought-after tourism destination in Northern Kerala was a hub of radiant celebration, brimming with anticipation for the New Year. Organised by the Tourism Department under the theme 'Illuminating Joy, Spreading Harmony,' a dazzling light spectacle took place at Manachira Square to usher in the New Year. Alongside the magnificent light displays, renowned artists showcased cultural and artistic performances, further enhancing the splendour of the illuminated event.

Having a resting place like this is a blessing for a city. A place to relax away from the hustle and bustle. Mananchira square is my favorite place in Kozhikode after the beach

This is one of the best hangout places in Kozhikode. The park opens at around 4 in the evening. Lots of people come here with their loved ones or alone. There are many trees offering their good shades. The street vendors offer good spicy food. There is also a beautiful walkway which takes you along the whole square. The new stone works add up to the beauty of this park. The mananchira pond is at the heart of the city and this is where water is pumped to the city. Entry is free. The park is well taken care of. Please do see that you don't litter the space.
I would definitely recommend to a friend.

Great place to relax in the summer. No vendors will be inside but you can find food just outside. Clean place and good breeze

It is located in the heart of Kozhikode city and is wrapped around the Mananchira Tank, which is fed by a natural spring from the time erstwhile ruler ruled the Kozhikode Kingdom. Tourist visits this serene location to spend a relaxing evening amidst the meticulous landscapes of the park, surrounded by trees and plants.

The historic maithan, adjacent to Mananchira has been converted into an acadia with trees and plants, an artificial hill, shrubs, sculpture, an open-air theatre, and a musical fountain.

Mananchira Square is named after the man-made lake Mananchira around which it is situated in the centre of the city. It is named after Mahadevan Samoothiri, the erstwhile ruler of the Kozhikode Kingdom, known as Mana-vedan Chira (pond) and later transformed to Mana-an-Chira.

100 years ago Valiyangadi and the beach area was the centre of Kozhikode city. In the 1970s the downtown shifted to Mananchira area and again, in the 1980s, Mavoor Road became the centre of attraction. In 2010s, Thondayad Bypass area and Palazhi on the Airport road has emerged as the new city centre with a vibrant night life.

The square is open after noon so the people can find some peace during evening after having lunch.
The place provide a historical touch to Bing out our memories and provide us with a cold surrounding.
The square provide us with food and dessert with playable toys for kids
It is also a very nice place for your first date to go on.
The place is surrounded by road but they do keep the sound pollution very low and need the water clean.
The water which is provided to many homes and companys are taken from the water bodies of this square.

Mananchira is a man-made freshwater pond situated in the centre of the city of Kozhikode in Kerala, southern India. The pond is 3.49 acres in area, is rectangular in shape and is fed by a natural spring. It is open to public at 4pm to 9pm.... Family can spend their leisure time with good ambiance...

It is a nice place for gathering and sharing happiness with family and friends.
