Good and simple Indonesian food. Easy on the wallet too. If u can't eat spicy, you can still order opor, gado-gado, and many other dishes. My favourites are es lidah buaya and es kacang hijau.

A must-go-place whenever I am in Surabaya. Their 'penyetan' & 'sambel' are THAT good. You can mix your menu for penyetan (beside their own menu). Also you can adjust your level of spiciness for the sambel. My favourite: Bakwan (fried meatball) & Empal (fried shredded beef).

Legend. I think this one is the best penyetan in town. Good taste and affordable price and they have many branches around surabaya

The best sambal food here. Bakwan penyet is the best for me. You can find other food like lontong cap go meh, pecel, etc. Small resto but you can visit here and eat.

I'm a big fan of Bu Kris for years. Every lunch time, I always come here if I'm working in the area. Always have Ayam penyet with rice, fair portion and quite satisfying. The best sambal to me, the spiciness can be adjustable. Place is very small, sometimes you have to wait to get a table, but not for long.

Probably, the sambal is one of the best in Surabaya. The taste is a bit different to Bu Kris Tenggilis. Still, it's definitely a good choice to eat out.
