Hotel Majapahit Surabaya is a charming blend of history and luxury. The Deco Art building exudes old-world charm and elegance. From the moment you step into the lobby, you are transported back in time. The intricate details of the architecture are a delight to behold. The rooms are spacious, well-appointed, and offer a comfortable retreat after a day of exploring the city. The staff is attentive and friendly, ensuring a memorable. I particularly love the attention to detail in preserving the heritage of the building while offering modern comforts. A stay at Hotel Majapahit Surabaya is truly a unique experience that captures the essence of a bygone era.

We had a fabulous few days at this hotel. From the time of the transfer everything was perfect.
We had a porter to take our luggage and felt like royalty from the time we arrived.
We enjoyed a drink whilst our room was being prepared. The decor was stunning and lovely comfortable seating to relax.
Our room was stunning, comfortable & spotless. The hotel is in the main street so easy access to everything.
The breakfast was so varied & catered for all tastes, with an egg station and the eggs and omelettes were cooked to perfection.
We ate lunch and all of our evening meals here and the presentation is 5 star tasted fabulous. The staff are very attentive and very friendly and polite, they couldn't do enough for us.
The pool was soooo warm and 1 day we were the only 1s there!!!
The garden area is lovely and seating there if you want it.
The spa looks beautiful, we didn't use it but you walk through it to go to the pool.
We had 2 earthquakes, whilst we were there, 1 being quite strong and reception called us to make sure we were ok giving us clear instructions if it happened again to go into the garden area.
I would definitely stay here again if visiting Surabaya.
The whole staff team were so friendly and helpful.

Great hotel with a rich history. The breakfast is one of the best we had in Indonesia. You can savour different regional dishes and interesting background info is provided. The staff is very attentive and friendly. Also the historical tour (with a high tea at the end) can’t be left out when visiting the Majapahit hotel.

The hotel is huge and has a historical background around it. It is old but still classsy in its own way. Our room has the best view. The bathroom needs an improvement, especially the plumbing area. The location was great. It is on Jalan Tunjungan, a classic street with so many stalls and street food.

Perfect location, with tons of eateries of all kinds - from street food to fine dining - are available just long the street outside the hotel. We managed to visit a couple of eateries that are considered icons of Surabaya cuisine.

Breakfast comes with sumptuous options, from local East Javanese to Western. Surprisingly, one of the standard breakfast menu - nasi rawon - actually tastes better than the city's icon. The rest of the menu, all the way to dessert, is simply delicious.

The hotel was built by the Dutch (Hotel Oranje0, later taken over by the Japanese (Hotel Yamato), and now as Majapahit has a lot of character, including rooms with high ceilings and marble floors. Unfortunately some parts of the building are showing their age without any visible effort to fix them.

The rooms are furnished with old yet comfortable furniture, complemented with newest appliances. The rooms are well-lit with large workdesk.

The bad part of the hotel is the fitness center that is lacking of maintenance with old equipment, old & dirty carpet, malfunctioning AC, not enough light.

Service is nothing short of hospitable, courteous, friendly, and certainly helpful. We came to the receptions a couple of times with a list of complaints and they handled everything as quickly as possible.

the only thing to consider is that on Sunday the street in front of the hotel is closed to all motorized vehicles from 6am to 9am, only the Blue Bird taxis are allowed drive through to pick-up drop off guests.

Very strategic location and good ambience heritage hotel.
The MAJ is a good place to escape after exhausted day. Food in breakfast time needs to be improved especially the food temperature.
Lot of appreciation for the clean and spacious room also friendly manner staff.

We attended the hotel tour and had a wonderful experience thanks to the hotel staff. It was highly informative, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone interested in delving deeper into Surabaya's history and the pivotal role this hotel played in Indonesia's quest for independence last century.

It was a shame that we weren't very hungry, as they served us some delightful canapés and a drink, all included in the tour fees.

A spectacular place to stay! This is truly an amazing experience not to be missed with its interior gardens and fountains, historic artwork and its relevance in Surabaya's fascinating history. The guest rooms are luxurious and the restaurant food is spectacular! A wonderful place to spend a few days relaxing.

It was truly remarkable staycation in Surabaya with Majapahit Hotel. Falling in love instantly with the heritage building, spacious room, extraordinary hospitality from all staffs, starting from checking in process until checking out. The building and supporting facilities are well maintained, yet you will feel that you were in Raffles Singapore there. You could feel the colonial ambience once you stepped in the hotel ground. After all, once again, it was truly an amazing experience. Wish I could go back there again soon.

I had a fantastic stay at this hotel. Being designated as the national cultural heritage, the antique interior of the hotel well preserving the historical elements of Surabaya was really beautiful. The location is also very central, with malls and F&B places in close proximity. Their customer service was also spot-on!

I have stayed here quite a few times and will stay here again next time I come to Surabaya.

Pros
- Spacious room, delicious breakfast
- VERY polite and friendly staff
- There are many ashtrays for smokers
- It's located on Tunjungan Street, so it's good for sightseeing

Cons
- When I last visited, the TV in the room I was assigned to was old. In the past, I was assigned a room with a smart TV, but it was disappointing a bit.

We came here for high tea and hotel tour, I would said it was a great experience for us to understand the history of this hotel and get to view all the beautiful antiques. And ended with their wonderful high tea set to spend our afternoon.

I would suggest Hotel Majapahit to promote more on social media for this, we actually had hard time searched for information online but have to walk to the hotel to book and get all the info.

Lastly, I would like to compliment the aunty selling bread and pastry outside the hotel, the bread she recommended was really nice and aunty was super friendly 🩷

This is a nice experience for us. We like this hotel. It's nicely constructed. But I need to give my special thanks to the hotel staff. Staff are very helpful and considerate. I forgot my bag in the taxi and the hotel staff helped me to contact the driver to find it back. I'm very grateful to them especially in 45 mins later I will be leaving Surabaya airport...
Next time when we come back, certainly we will stay at this hotel. Nice staff, spacious room, nice architecture providing you a charm environment to work and for holiday, good food etc ... what else do you need? I think it's a perfect choice.

The facade and exterior of the building is preserved from decades ago, so don't expect swanky and sleek. Still, the team at Hotel Majapahit made it work very well. Gym was decent. Pool was great. There's an indomie station at the hotel breakfast buffet too. Fantastic location, I would give 7 stars for that.

What an incredible place to stay. My family and I had two glorious nights at the Majapahit. Staying in the hotel feels like stepping back in time to the early part of the 20th century, the architecture, gardens and overall ambience of the hotel are beautiful. The rooms are spacious and impeccably decorated with period furnishings. The food in the Indigo restaurant was delicious, especially the breakfasts. What a treat!

Stayed for 3 nights during business trip to Surabaya. I was intrigued by the story of this hotel and a little bit hesitant at first since it is famous for its horror story. Nevertheless, the hotel was such a nice charm and it was brightly lit throughout the hotel's property. The hotel lobby, corridor, and courtyard located in hotel was a magnificent and a sight to behold. I was upgraded to the heritage suite due to my gold member and it was a nice touch by Natan. The room was lovely, huge, and throwing me back to the old time but with modern touch such as smart tv in the room. Breakfast was delicious and I'd love to eat near the window in the morning while the locals passing by. Would love to stay in this hotel in the future because it's that great.
