Sunan Ampel Great Mosque

the old heritage masjeed in Surabaya and there is tombs of Islamic sholar known as sunan Ampel the member of walisongo the group of Javanese Islamic sholar

I always love religi tour, the place is good , masjid huge, there are 3 tomb you must visit(sent pray for them) while at sunan ampel,:
1.Sunan Ampel's tomb himself
2.Mbah Bolong (ShonHaji)
3.Mbah Sholeh (+-100m accross male Wudhu)(see photo)

It's so amazing to have tahajud (Night praying) on old mosque of Ampel. We can have spiritual trip along midnight journey. A lot of helpful man whom appointing and explaining about the spirit sequence from a guest guider, until parking man there.

Religious tourism for moslem. It's one of historical place in surabaya. There's also any tomb of sunan ampel (one of the famous sunan who spread islam in surabaya).

this is old mosque that will make your feel comfort to be here. the air is fresh without aor conditioner. man pray with a lot of attention. thos mosque surrounding by shrines of great people like sunan Ampel and wahid hasyim. surrounding market that sold things also.

The area is easy to recognise as the entrances are located by the main street. It is a big complex consists of a building full of kiosks offering merchandises; t-shirts with Wali Songo images are the most popular one, and food, a big mosque, decent toilets and bathrooms, lodgings, cafes, food stalls, fruit sellers, snack sellers, even kid's toys.

MasyaAllah magnificent place to visit. A lots of local people come here to pray and pay a visit to Sunan Ampel tomb.

Antique mosque with strong structure. The marble floor is smooth, the wall is thick, the vestibule has wooden carvings. It is very old & is the location of Sunan Ampel tomb. Lots of Madurese traders selling dates, food, & clothes. Piles of Alquran are provided for reciter. Also, free drinkin water is available in pot all over the mosque.

Good places with islamic culture surrounding it. As a tourism destination, this mosque is located in the centre of kampung and next to one of walisongo funeral, named sunan ampel. It was so unique yet fascinating to go there in this modern era where everything follow the world-trends. Also, on the way to go to the mosque, you might find a kind of market that sell foods, goodies, and local souvenirs. It was very crowded when I went there. The one thing I like the most is the housing area near to the way to the mosque where it has good pedestrian road and free from transportations. It is environmental friendly with good neighbourhood and connection between its people.

Great arsitecture and big mosque. This place as the biggest old Islamic center of surabaya.

An adventurous way to enjoy another side of Surybaya city. It's in one of the oldest area in the city. Where you can take an interesting muslim heritage tour.

On the way to the Ampel mosque and to the tomb, you'll see some attractive sights. Street foods vendors with their spicy aromas, the bustling of the market, eventually some vendors will try to sell you something. Parfume, clothes, books, or tasbih.

The area is normally crowded on weekends and around praying tombs, no one is alowed to see the tomb complex. The mosque is old and has a unique architecture. The mosque drum were gigantic. And the interior is inviting, so peaceful around so many visitors.

Here we can also taste some middle east foods.

One of religion place in Surabaya. Not just Sunan Ampel's Tomb but there is also one of Sultan Banten's Tomb. These place was great and serve public space.
