Not knowing what to expect I enjoyed visiting here yesterday.
There is over 700 monkeys living here and they seem alot more placid here than Ubud and Uluwatu...mainly because they are well fed.
Entry is 75k pp which includes a bottle of water and a small bag of peanuts.
We had a guide accompany us which didn't bother us , he was also there to take pics plus he was very informative and advised us what to do to ensure the monkeys didn't surprise us.
This seems to be a well kept facility , very clean and some huge trees throughout the forest.
I got a couple of pics from our guide (50k each) but this well worth the visit , great for families or even couples wanting monkey pics .

We rented a motorbike to get here. This place is by far better monkey forest compared to the one in town. The ticket is cheap, all the forest monkey keepers are very friendly. Far less people, but watch out, the monkeys are aggressive. It’s best to tour the park with the keeper, they will keep you safe from the monkeys. At the end of the tour, we tip the keeper, but it was worth it.

Ticket prices here was cheaper than Monkey Forest Ubud. The forest area is quite large and it is best to be accompanied by a guide who can help show you the route within this area. We came in the afternoon at around two pm, after the monkeys had lunch time, so many were sleeping in the forest. There was one monkey, which was quite large, jumped on the back of one of my family members and urinated on his shoulder. Luckily we were with a guide who was able to chase the monkey away. Because there is a place of worship in this area, you should behave and dress politely

I highly recommend this place if you want to visit the monkeys and don't want to be attacked by them. This place is not as crowded as in other places, the monkeys are more polite and a guide very attentive to your safety will accompany you during the visit.
It is the most beautiful monkey forest in Bali.

The monkeys in this forest are really friendly and will climb onto your shoulder readily. And they are really comfortable sitting there while you snap away. Definitely worth going for photo ops with the monkeys.
There will be a local park guide, which you simply tip them 30-50k rp. They help you with the monkeys and snap some photos for you.

Sangeh monkey forest is alot smaller than ubud and cheaper. Local guide is sure to keep you safe and keep bigger monkeys away. Me and the kids felt very safe at this forest. Very quiet and no crowds. Would definitely go back again

Magical place!!! We were lucky enough to be the only group (4 people) in the whole park (November vacation). What an atmosphere among the tall trees and surrounded by monkeys. Definitely worth to have a guide with you, who is also a protector armed with knowledge and sling-shot (just in case)

Peaceful place, perfect size of area not too big not too crowded. Monkeys were friendly and would come when you offer food. They would sometimes hop and climb on you, don't be surprised and don't touch them they'll eventually leave.
Much better place to visit than other crowded ones

Beautiful quiet place with pretty much no one, magnificent forest with amazing temple. The monkeys are not agressive and they do not steal, but they do like to go on you. They are gentle so you don’t have to be afraid. Just make sure you don’t have any white tshirt on, as theirs paws are not clean and you will get dirty spots. Also take some mosquito spray with you, dense forest is pretty heavy with them.

If you want to avoid the crowds and tourists of bigger monkey forests, this is the place to go. Not big, but beautiful and with plenty of monkeys around! A really fun experience.

At the beginning of the trail there are many people who want to give you a tour and are familiar with the monkeys. They have food and cameras, so they feed the monkeys who sit on you for photos. If that's not your thing, you can politely decline and walk around by yourself. The monkeys are less likely to climb on top of you then. Avoid putting your hands in your pockets because they think you are going to feed them.

If you follow the trail with a guide you are done within 30 minutes, but we took our time and stayed in the park for a couple of hours, as there were many monkeys to observe.

There are toilets on site and parking available.

This also is a must visit place.
Here you can get closer to the monkeys and you don’t have to spend extra to feed monkeys it is included in the price. A guide will be there with you who is friendly with the monkeys.
Monkeys can climb on you and you can take photographs with monkeys. Only charge they take is to develop the photos which is 50K whim is affordable.

Such an awesome experience. Make sure you listen to the guides and follow their instructions or you might get swarmed 🤣 The monkeys are so cute and there was lots of pregnant monkeys and babies. Make sure you buy lots of bananas and peanuts, you'll need em 🤣

This place is amazing! Much cheaper than the famous sacred monkey forest close to Ubud. Entrance fee here is 30k/person, and you get to see plenty of monkeys everywhere (babies too!). Know that the monkeys are not aggressive nor thieves (like in Uluwatu) but they sometimes jump on you and even on your head as they are pretty curious. If they do, remember not to touch them! If you need help or assistance, a lot of staff walks the forest so they can help you if you need.
Definitely recommended! We had an amazing time, and the forest is very beautiful with a lot of huge and old trees.

Best monkey experience ever! Entry for foreigners is 30K. This place will probably eventually become packed with tourists just like the Ubud monkey forest, so come here now! These monkeys are always making eye contact with humans and are interested in people, unlike the Ubud forest where the monkeys have zero interest in interacting with humans and pretty much ignore you. Very few tourists at Sangeh, but plenty of staff to assist, and tons of monkeys which will jump on you (but harmlessly), and then the staff can help take photos of you and the monkey! No extra charge. The staff have tons of snacks for the monkeys and feed them so you can have your photo opportunities, at no extra cost. Sometimes the staff walk around and throw crackers everywhere and you can watch all the monkeys run over and eat. The monkeys won’t hurt you as long as you don’t touch them, make sudden movements, or freak out when they jump on you. If you squat down, the monkey will eventually jump off you. And only the small lightweight monkeys tend to jump, so no worries about a heavy huge monkey hurting your shoulder or back! No problem bringing backpacks because the monkeys don’t open zippers or steal anything. Lots of mother monkeys with their babies!!

Sangeh Monkey Forest, without a doubt a spectacular experience! For those looking for contact with monkeys, we highly recommend it, as it was one of the best experiences, always accompanied by a guide, and the monkeys were very well behaved.

Amazing experience, friendly monkeys and not that touristy.

This is the second monkey forest we've been to in Bali, The other being the Ubud monkey forest, and this experience was completely different.

The Ubud monkey forest was beautiful, and very big compared to this one, you can spend a lot of time walking around. But it was very packed with tourists when we went and the monkeys were very aggressive. They can come and bite you unprovoked which is quite dangerous considering the rabies risk.

However, Sangeh monkey forest was very chilled, wide open with monkeys roaming around the grounds. The monkeys are noticeably a lot calmer and more chill. You are able to sit down and let them climb on you for pictures (let a guide help you).

The entrance is 30k/pp which is well worth it. If your brave enough you can buy nuts for 10k a bag and feed the monkeys. But be careful to only get out 1 or 2 at a time and don't show them the bag or you will be swarmed. We rotated around the area feeding one or 2 at a time. Occasionally sitting down and letting the baby monkeys come over and interact with us, speak to them and sneakily give them a peanut or 2 before the bigger ones came running over to get some haha.

We spent about an hour and a half here walking around interacting with the monkeys. There was hardly any tourists so it was very good. There are guides walking around with sticks who keep the monkeys from getting too naughty.

It was a very enjoyable experience and we are planning to come back soon to chill and feed the monkeys. It's a very nice day out.

Super experience. I have been to Phuket Monkey Hill and I thought that I will see the monkeys and thats it. After the entrance (30k) a man started to coming with us. On the start I was quite interrupted but my feelings changed shortly after and at the end a left tips for that man (guide). Monkeys are jumping on you, they dont steal. If you are afraid of them the guide will take care of that.

Summary:
Great fun. Lots of (mostly) friendly and cheeky monkeys. Great staff. Not crowded at all with free parking and only a few shops around.

This was a pleasant surprise. We got there early in the day at 10-11 AM (which probably explains the low numbers of tourists) and did not pay for parking. There is an entrance fee but other than that there are no other hidden costs.

The park is beautifully arranged and kept as natural looking as possible. The walkways lead to an old temple surrounded by trees (which is off limits for tourists). In front of the temple entrance you meet your first monkeys. There are a total of three monkey families of about 15-20 individuals living in the park. We even got to see baby monkeys (2-3 weeks old) with their mother.

There is a large number of staff which are very friendly and not intrusive at all. They told us about the monkey families and helped us interact with them. The staff feed the monkeys so they end up staying for pictures and even climb on you if you let them. Whenever the monkeys got too cheeky the staff would hush them away.

One staff member gave us a tour of part of the forest. We followed a trail while interacting with the monkeys there. At the end we got back to our car without any shops or cafes on our way with no solicitation from anyone.

A truly calming and fun experience, one of the best on our Bali trip. Hats off to the staff who did an awesome job.
