Bali by Pedals - Jatiluwih cycling tour

One of the absolute best things I did while I was in Bali! Such an enjoyable day with Arya, the landscape is gorgeous, and I got to meet some locals at a temple ceremony that I would never have found on my own. Highly recommend!

Great tour, a must do in Bali! You cycle through Jatiluwith Rice Terraces (unesco cultural heritage) Our guide told us a lot about the Indonesian culture. You only cycle downhill so it’s very easy. Afterwards you get a really nice home cooked meal on a great spot!

This December was our second time doing this fantastic tour and we loved it just as much again. We took friends with us also this time and Arya gave us all the royal treatment. It was my wife’s birthday week away and Arya and his wife went to the extra effort of a gift of flowers and birthday cake along with the wonderful lunch they provide at the end of the ride. Really an enjoyable experience and great to see Inland Bali with none of the hustle and bustle of the coastal towns.

If you plan to go see the jatiluwih rice terraces or if you are in Bali and unsure what to do, DO THIS!
The day started by being picked up from our hotel (which Arya was able to arrange on short notice). We had breakfast with breathtaking views and off we went. The ride was so easy mainly going down. We did so many stops to take pictures! it really is an amazing sight to behold! We got to see the culture of rice from the nursery to the dried rice that we buy. Doing the cycling tour give us the opportunity to cover more ground and so to meet the local farmers and workers and enjoy the beautiful quiet street of the village. We finished by having a nice lunch. Arya is a fantastic guide that makes the adventure! He is so knowledgeable and friendly. Absolute best day!

If you only have time for one rice terrace experience, this should be it. Arry is the perfect guide, a good communicator, helpful, informative and fun. Riding through the rice fields and terraces on a bicycle meant we could stop wherever we wanted and photograph everything. Through Arry we were able to talk to a local farmer and village women preparing offerings for a big festival. I got a real feel for rural life on this tour, some easy exercise and learned a lot about Balinese culture. You don't need to be a mad keen cyclist or even particularly fit. Most of the ride is downhill and there's a support vehicle following the whole time if it gets too much. It was definitely worth the money and I'd do it again if I return to Bali.

A must do when in Bali, thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Our family had a great time, Arya is so friendly and helpful and so are the staff. The feast at the end is the best meal we have eaten in Bali, what a treat. Thanks Arya we will be back!

We had a wonderful day with Arya showing us life and the countryside in Bali. Everything was well organised. It was a very relaxing day and Arya was very knowledgeable and kind. We were a family of five and the trip was great even for the not so confidant bike riders in our family. Arya had a support vehicle available that took our bikes (and us) up the large hill although I’m sure you could ride if you wanted the challenge. The food was delicious and stop offs in the countryside, at the home, at the school and rice preparation area were very interesting. I have high recommendations for this fantastic trip. It was the highlight of our time in Bali.

I really enjoyed the tour, it was definitely my favourite excursion in Bali. Our guide Arya, showed us around the beautiful Jatiluwih Rice Terraces and answered all our questions about the Balinese culture and traditions. It was lovely to go around the countryside and into local villages and to meet the locals. It was one of the most informative tours I’ve done. Also the food we had for lunch was absolutely delicious. I would definitely recommend this tour.

A cycle tour followed by an Indonesian cooking class. Couldn't recommend them enough.

We had a great experience riding through the rice fields and villages. The team was very helpful with our young children and made the bike ride so relaxing for us. The breakfast and lunch was superb. Our guide was excellent. Would definitely recommend this tour to anyone especially families.

One of the best experiences we have had in bali. Arya was a great guide who knew the area well and spoke great English . The Jatiluwih are the best rice paddies hardly saw any tourists and met many locals harvesting their rice. The rice paddies are the biggest on Bali.We also visited a local school, had fruit great fruit platter and lovely lunch at the end.

This was hands down one of the best experiences my husband and I have had overseas. Arya and the team were fantastic from the start. The driver was waiting for us at the hotel, the bikes were fantastic, the scenery unbelievable, the people lovely. Arya has excellent English skills and he was the perfect host to explore this magic part of Bali.
Special mention must go to his wife, Made, who made the most authentic, delicious Balinese lunch for us. She is an amazing cook.
Everything was so well thought out - even the western toilets, coconut water, breakfast. We are very grateful for the experience.

I've done this cycling tour with Bali by Pedals twice, first in 2017 and again on my trip to Bali in December 2022. I'm always searching for authentic, local experiences and this is one of my top picks that I now recommend to anyone who goes to Bali. Arya is a local Balinese man who started this company himself and he is an awesome guide. He's fun to chat with, has a lot of knowledge about the rice fields and balinese culture, and knows the best places to go. The tour itself is super fun and you get to see some of the most beautiful rice fields in Bali without being stuck in a typical tourist trap! I've seen many rice fields in Bali and the ones at Jatiluwih are truly breathtaking. If you are up for an active adventure, then this is definitely the best way to explore Bali's iconic rice fields.

What a fantastic experience! Thoroughly enjoyed everything about this tour. Arya was the loveliest guide who answered the many questions we had along the way. The scenery was spectacular and it was wonderful to learn about the "real" Bali while interacting with locals. The riding was not strenuous at all, mostly downhill with only a few short (easy) uphill stints (you spend far more time braking than pedalling). Lunch was delicious! The service from the moment we were picked up from our hotel, until drop off in the afternoon, was second to none. Highly recommend Bali by Pedals!

It is a must do! I was amazing! The best thing we have done in Bali, it was 5 stars experience, all of it. Great bikes, great guides, great food, drivers. We saw real culture, real people, we had fun, learned things, was beautiful, can't recommend it enough!

This was a fantastic day out, enjoyed by all the family, especially our teenagers. The location of the tour was beautiful, the scenery and cultural experience was amazing. The ride itself is easy with only a couple of little climbs. Arya, our guide and owner is just as much a highlight as the scenery. He was warm, friendly and very informative. We did the Bali by Pedals tour a few days ago and loved it! Arya is a great guide and the tour is perfect- well thought out route and stops including the beautiful UNESCO rice terraces, a traditional Balinese village and school, and a scenic lunch spot. Arya has a great sense of humor and is very knowledgeable about the area and Balinese culture. We really enjoyed everything. Thank you Arya, Putu, and our driver for a very memorable day in Bali!

A great way to see the Unesco site of Jatiluwih and villages by bicycle. Beautiful scenery, bikes are in good condition and the guide Arya is very informative.

We went with family of 6 (2 parents, 2 kids, and parents in law) on a wonderful mountainbike ride through the real Balinese countryside.
