I loved this place so much! I spend quite a bit of time here in my four days in Ubud. I was lucky to see the twice monthly dance performance. I made a very cool ring AND little earrings for only $17 USD at the silver group workshop. And the *highlight* of my time here was my gamelan lessons! My teacher was so kind and warm and patient. His smile always brightened my day. I was able to learn a lot in just two lessons and I had SO much fun! Thank you to everyone at the library for the work you do:)

Besides the very Commercial parts of Ubud (all the spa, massage and bars), it’s special to experience something traditional. It’s located down a quiet secret ally, just a few minutes walk from the Central Ubud. Here you can get a taste of Balinese Traditions and plenty of Books! I’ve tried a hour private class of Balinese Dance, and I would highly recommend it. If you love Dancing, If you love Traditions, you’re at the right place. They also offer other Traditional Classes and Workshops. Deserves a try!

We did a workshop here to craft some silver jewellery, which is my favourite souvenir from Bali. We made rings but you could also make earrings or bangles. The group workshop is 175k rupiah per person and includes 3g silver to make your jewellery. You can also pay to add extra silver at 20k rupiah ($2aud) per gram. See attached pic/vid: skinny ring on left was 3g, thick ring on right was 6g.

It was amazing to be able to create our design and the instructor was excellent at helping you to achieve what you want.

Awesome experience. Went there for private (one on one) Balinese dance and gamelan lessons. Both teachers are very patient and know how to guide you. Highly recommend.

Amazing experience and I super love it!!!!! I’ve seen the Balinese dance and I fell in love with it. But it is my last day in Ubud and my boyfriend booked 1 hour dancing class for me. It’s quite difficult but the teacher is very professional she can made everything easier and I can learn within 1 hour. I hope I could come back to @Ubud and learn more. Thank you so much!!! Wonderful! I got a Balinese lesson with the teacher Tut who was really good and professional on teaching! In only 1 hour I learned so many things and she was so patience and kind with me! I really recommend It for all dancers. My boyfriend got a musica lessons and he really enjoyed it too, thank you so much! :)

My friend and I booked the 3 hour wood sculpting private workshop, and we had an incredible experience: the teacher is patient, explains everything very well and shares a lot of technics. We totally recommend it, if you are a beginner and even if you are not!
We loved it so much that we also booked a 1 hour Balinese dance lesson! We had a very good time also, the teacher shows you how to do the classic steps including leg and arm posture but also how to move your eyes. We then learned a welcoming choreography. We easily could have stayed an extra hour it was great!

We loved this experience. We chose to do a private silver making course, for my boyfriend and I.
The teacher Sri was lovely, kind, patient.
The space is calm, you almost forget the busy roads you’ve come in from.
There was one other session beside us doing woodwork, they seemed to be really learning and concentrating too.
We made some beautiful bits and were so happy with the outcome.
Felt really special to be making our silver jewellery instead of just choosing/buying from a shop where you don’t know the quality etc.
This was high quality and with the teacher’s help much easier to achieve what you hope to ☺.
I made a hammered wave ring and a loop around toe ring.
My boyfriend made a hammered silver ring for his little finger, and a ring for my little finger.

Really enjoyed silver jewellery making class. You basically work out what you want to do and are then shown the process of how to go about it. Ideally, go there with a couple of ideas. There is one lady who appears to be the lead jewellery maker but has at least 3 others there who are able to help. There was also wood carving happening at the same time with another teacher. You get to try out be different bits of the process but they help with any bits that are to technical to ensure that you leave with the best possible item. I made a ring and a pair of earrings in the 3 hours which I love and will wear. They provided the backs to the earrings too! You pay extra for silver over what is included but it was at a reasonable rate. Do take water / drinks as it gets quite hot! Would this workshop and would recommend it to anyone 😁

If you are looking for a Balinese dance class come here!!!! Ketut is a seasoned dance teacher and was so patient and kind. I learned so much about the culture. I also did an amazing silver making class here and was able to take a ring home with me that I made. This is your one stop shop for amazing activities.

Excellent location in Ubud! They also offer a clean and beautiful homestay that is run by really great people. Moreover, you can get lessons in Bahasa Indonesia, Gamelan, Balinese dancing and Jewelry Making. The library is a sanctuary from the busy streets of Ubud.
In my opinion, Pondok Pekak is an important place for the preservation of Balinese culture.

We had such a fun afternoon at Pondok Pekak Library. We had visited 6 years ago already but at the time our children were still too young to take any lessons so it was just my husband that took a gamelan class.

We came back this time with our 2 daughters (7&8) who wanted to learn wood carving and how to make Balinese offerings. Nyoman taught the wood carving, he was very kind and patient in teaching our girls the techniques.
They made a lovely turtle and gecko.

For the Balinese offerings, a lovely lady, Memek which means mother in Balinese showed our youngest and myself the different techniques. She was also very caring and patient. We made a dozen beautiful offerings which were so fragrant.

It was so amazing to see how skillful they are and how they pass the craftsmanship down from generation to generation. We will definitely be back to learn other skills next time. We highly recommend!

We visit every trip to Bali for classes - everything from silver class, dance, woodcarving, art, offering baskets and anything else you can think of. Usually one on one class, no big group, so very personal. Best price for classes compared to most other "tourist" places.

This place is now open in May 2022. We took some wood carving lessons. The instructor was great! Lots of knowledge and useful techniques learnt, plus it was fun!
This venue hosts many activities/classes, like Indonesian language, dance, music, fruit decoration, painting, wood carving, painting, silver jewellery making, offering creation.

I had an artisanal jewellery class and a balinese dancing class a few days ago. Both teacher were kind and talented, I enjoyed these moments a lot!

Amazing silver jewellery making class. My teacher was really patient and nice. My silver ring turned out amazing and I love it! I highly recommend this place!

Did a wood working class here. Taught by a master woodworker from Mas.
We had the choice f making something specific (like a dolphin) or learning techniques and we chose techniques. The flower/leaves we tried are just like the filagree on the gamelans. We learnt how to plan a design, build layers, create sharp corners and smoothing surfaces. By the end of our 2.5 hrs, we were very enthused and happily creating designs and starting them.
Highly recommended as the class was cheaper than competitors, in the middle of Ubud, great workshop space.

Entertainment for big and little kids.
Kids did wood carving and jewellery making. Great teachers, and meal if included in price. 3 hour classes.
Kids loved it. Happy kids make for happy parents. Even got to do a bit of shopping on monkey Forest Rd whilst they were busy. Two thumbs up.
