Planet Samudra cafe/ Jong school

Michel is an excellent chef. The ingredients are fresh and Michel accompanies them with amazing sauces and seasoning which blend local and western flavors perfectly. There is a wide variety of dishes and drinks for a relaxing evening, or a quick lunch.

We loved the vibes there,
It was the only western serving place in the area.
Staffs were very friendly and able to recommend and make custom dishes for you.
Food was well balanced and delicious.
Also available some cocktails and fresh juices & desserts.

We chanced upon this lovely cafe by the beach, set back from the road with a beautiful sea view. Friendly and relaxed ambience, creative fusion of French, German and Indonesian flavours with fresh local ingredients. Succulent fish caught in the same morning!

An absolutely Zen experience. The host is an artist, ex-sailor, ex-chef and a major force in resurrecting the local Jong tradition.
Staying at his Airbnb is very down-to-earth -the peak of eco-accommodation. All visitors are welcomed into the gentle, convivial, warm circle.

A chill by the beach cafe and bar with a private area to swim. The owner is a friendly French artist who is passionate about Jong and opens Jong-sailing experience.

Best chill-out cafe ever. Facing the sea with the breeze against you and freshly made milkshakes to beat the heat. Owner Michel makes an amazing beef golash n spaetzle. We relaxed there for hours reading n gazing at the horizon.

I give this 5-stars bit for the facilities but for the overall experience of a stay with Michel, crazy French artist who is a great chef. An evening with Michel is a real treat.. Top stuff. Oh and the beach is great for Kite Surfing..

We stumbled across this cafe on a weekend trip away. Given the simplicity of the surroundings, we were not expecting the food to be a French fine dining experience! The food was delicious and it reminded us of our mums home cooked food. Michel was the perfect host. DO NOT MISS THIS SPOT! Planet Samudra… ‘you are out of this world!’

Delicious food, great drinks, fantastic atmosphere right on the beach with music and friendly service. We went two nights in a row as it was so good. Its a bit pricier than surrounding places but certainly not overpriced.

Amazing place. The view is beautiful. You can see people not just building but testing their Jongs. It's one of the few places which has lovely shade and a strong breeze in the middle of the day...

Michel is an amazing cook, and he is doing incredible work in helping to revive the fading art of jong racing!

Hidden gem, little corner of paradise invisible from the street, offering a 180° breath taking view on the see, feet in the sand, under the shadow of the trees. The host is a chef, poet, painter, philosopher who's had many lives, cooking with his heart dishes from another planet. On a windy day, the place becomes the spot for kite surfers, chilling, eating, drinking and socializing after a good session on the friendly waters of Bintan. A must visit, for lunch, a drink at sunset or a moonlit dinner.

What an amazing little cafe. The food was really tasty! You wouldn't think you would try such a great pizza in bintan. Probably the best on the island. We had a beef redang pizza and Michelle even customised a vegan pizza for our friend. Both pizzas tasted wonderful with a smokey aroma. We would have come again for lunch if our boat didn't leave so early.

We went in the evening and the place just sparkles in the night. Beautiful set up with brilliant lighting and timeless music to suit the scene. It's what island living is all about. So glad we had a chance to visit this cafe.

French chef making delicious European and local foods, lovely setting and great people. Highly recommended!

What a little gem - Michelle and his wife provided a truly incredible pizza. Just a great place to relax - good food, uncomplicated place, great company. Well priced wi e and cold beer. Exceptional conversation with the host.

Planet Samudra is, just like the owner, an eclectic blend of good vibes, good food, and plenty of good drinks.

The setting is welcoming and wonderfully lit, making it a good spot to slip your toes in the sand and relax into sunset, and beyond.

The menu is reliably consistent, with the beef rendang pizza being one of our favourites; we like to share it as an appetizer over a couple of rum punches.

We visit every time we are in trikora beach, and we will be back.

Michel (French chef) offers the best food and drinks stop on Bintan East-Coast (if not entire Bintan), in a cosy outdoor setting with feet on the beach. A great place to indulge after your kitesurfing session, for both lunch and diner. See you soon Michel!
