Sushi Kawana specializes in sushi and sashimi. The price tag is worthy of the taste. The cold soba also nice, along with the wagyu beef yakiniku (melted inside your mouth)

A friend recommended and it's indeed very fresh plates of sushi and sashimi🙌 you get what you pay for here🫶🏽

One of my favorite Japanese restaurants! They always serve the best and freshest ingredients. We ordered a lot but I forgot to capture the rest of dishes I ordered as we were drooling 🤤. I ordered Otoro (SUPER good), ama ebi (very good), Sukiyaki (a bit too sweet for me but friends liked it though), Chawanmushi (very good), salmon belly (very good), Ehire (pretty good), and many more dishes. Overall it was great. One thing I dislike, they always full of people (guess because this restaurant is good) and hard to find parking spot.

A culinary gem in Jakarta.

Manned by Kawana-san, a sushi master, trainer of trainers in almost every other good sushi restaurants in Jakarta (Sushi Masa & Sushi Sei just to name a few).

But make sure to always sit at the bar, as the steep price (I spent 800k per person for sushi) can get nullified if you see the master at work.

Restaurant Jepang ke-5 di Melawai yang saya coba. Very nice staffs, great Japanese ambience, and all food is so delicious, authentic taste, and also elegant services. Start from appetizer, main course, and dessert.

Kami pesan Sushi Sakura, it was so fresh cooked by the original chef dan pesan Kaisen Don Set. Free appetizer and dessert. Lumayan dessertnya ogura ice cream. We spent around 700k. Worth price to pay.

Very chill, unassuming place - all smiles, solid service, and great food.

Had the chirashi bowl, followed by grilled salmon, and then some tempura veggies. The dry sake brought it all together.

They have small tatami rooms for a more private dining experience. Sitting at the bar was fine though - was very socially distant from another couple that was also dining.

Even though it was in the middle of pandemic, Sushi Kawana was still full of customers. Luckily we (my husband, my son and I) were still able to get a private room for dinner

As usual, the food were very fresh and tasty with the best wasabi.

Love it! Simple yet delicious.
Toro was so fresh like butter, ankimo (tuna) took me to heaven, and the unagi chirashi tasted so unique. ❤

The chef is a kind Japanese man. All restaurant staffs have great conduct and very polite and attentive! The best part is the food, the freshest and most delicious sushi in Jakarta. I have been disappointed many times by quality of tuna sushi in Jakarta, but Sushi Kawana reminds me of the authentic Japanese taste. Also recommend the 'beinasu misodengaku' eggplant with miso paste.

One of the best sushi places in town and I have been to over 20! You get an authentic Japanese feel and one of the few places using real fresh wasabi! Price is on the premium end but not as expensive as some.

Go to place for fresh sashimi. We tried a lot of their variety and all was good. Definitely fresh sashimi. Price i would say $$$. We tried their niku udon, it was also good! Overall, worth visit!

This is kind of a you get what you pay for establishment. Eating can easily cost usd50 or up per person. If you're looking for authentic sushi experience, this is the place! O recommend kamo nanban udon and dashimaki tamago of you are looking for a non sushi option! People have been saying the unagi is heavenly but at 750k i'm honestly scared lol

Reaonably priced and high quality sushi. I was seated at the counter seat where I got to watch Kawana-san deftly prepared my sushi. The size of each sushi is generous, the fish and other ingredients are fresh, and the proportion of rice to the topping is perfect.

I ordered Sushi Moriwase Sakura (picture).

A bit on the pricier side but it was worth it. Sat at the sushi bar and got the Sakura plate I think? The fish is delicious and you can tell they care about technique
