Chill hike except the last stretch that is slightly challenging. Good view for those who made it to the summit. No training needed but would bring thicker socks for sleeping

Great experience. Base camp to camp 1 was relatively easy, just pack light (essentials only + water). Options to take the motorbike taxi to Pos 2 for 200k or courier your bags for 50k. The climb to the summit was fun and not too challenging. You will almost always make the climb before sunrise so make sure to bring/rent trekking poles and headlights. It’s cold at the summit and pack extra for warmth.

Climbed the Mt Rinjani on a 3D/2N hike.
Amazing experience, pretty easy if you are well trained but can be difficult from 50m before the summit.
Had a lot of wind at the summit which was terrible but the view once up there was unbelievable at the sunrise.
I recommend if you are looking for a bit of challenge during your trip in Lombock.

Amazing experience, we did 2 days/ 1 night. It's a difficult and intense trek because the ground is very technical but it deserves to be done because the view at the top is breathtaking.

Went 3 days 2 night, reached the summit and hiked down to the lake for the 2nd night. It was totally worth it, too bad I didn't go through torean route

Great but extraneous hike! Often offered by tour companies as part of a 2, 3 or 4 day experience. I paid 200 USD per person (you could get it for maybe 180 USD) for a group 1 night-2 day hike. During the dry season the pebbles all along the trail make it hard to walk; you often feel lime you are talking 2 steps forward and one bike. Do try it, but make sure you are fit and have hiking sticks if you want to make it to the top. 2 day option feels rushed (only go for summit) and I heard similar comments for the 3 day option, so please try the 4 day if you get the chance and like nature

We did our 2D1N to the summit with NemoeTrekking, we recommend. The hike is difficult on the second day. Expect to wake up at 2am and begin around 230. You need to be prepared physically and mentally. The volcanic rocks are slippery during the last hour. Good luck!

Beautiful hike with beautiful view. Hike up to base camp was manageable. Slippery in some spots but other than that pretty okay. Hike up to the summit was another story… after climbing this, I felt that kinabalu was really easy 😂

Mt. Rinjani is one of the toughest but yet offers one of the most astonishing scenery and experiences to me.

You start with unique landscapes of Savanah grassland, climate alpine and eventually to planet Mars like barren volcanic terrains before reaching the summit.
You need more than just stamina to pull you through....your mental strength is equally important.

Do get a good team of guide and porter to support you on the climb. These people are unbelievable and help to make things happen.

Unlike most people, we decided to hike up to the summit at around 3pm, and made it to the top at around 8pm. It was already dark by then but we were able to see an amazing sunset all by ourselves. Plus, going early in the morning for the sunrise also means that (1) you need to wake up at 2am and (2) you hike up with TONS other people, making the hike up the summit a lot harder and slower. I highly recommend going at 3pm instead.

The trek is beautiful but it is extremely challenging. There is a lot of loose gravel so make sure you have good shoes.

The views on mount rinjani is incredible. Went for a 3D2N trek up from sembalun. The hike up on the first day, was manageable and we enjoyed the different scenery and cool weather. Took us about 7 hours to hike up and we reached the crater rim around 4pm just in time for the sunset.

Stayed the night on the crater rim, view up on crater rim is fantastic enough. We were blessed with great weather and clear cloudless sky but extremely strong cold and never ending wind. The wind blew continuously such that our tent collapsed in the night.

Woke up at 2am for the summit and the hike up was a killer. The terrain of lava rocks up the steep steep summit in the relentless cold wind, made it very tiring to climb. But the view up there is amazing even before the summit. The whole experience was breathtaking literally.

The hike up the summit was too tiring for us so we opted not to continue to the lake but to descend to pos3 to camp for the night. The descend was really tough for us and taxing on the knees.

Highly recommend challenging yourselves on mount rinjani. My advice is to be prepared with proper cold weather attire, and hit the gym more often before the hike.

Have a fun and memorable experience!

Rinjani is the second highest volcano in Indonesia, after Mount Kerinci. In terms of beauty, it is second to none.

There are few well known trails that offer different length/challenge/view. I opted to ascend thru Sembalun and descent thru Torean. From Sembalun to Plawangan (crater rim), it is a mix of flat and steep terrain, the view for the most part will be the awesome savannah. There is no shade at all during this part but most of the time you'll be covered by cloud so it is bearable. On the later steeper part nearing crater rim, it change a little with some not too thick trees that offer some shades, you can still see some views as the trees wasn't dense at all.

Most hikers camp at crater rim before summit attack early morning usually around 2-3am. I started at 2.30 and reach the summit around 6am, just nice before sunrise. The trail from crater rim to summit basically can be divided into 3 parts. The first part is steep with some loose scree but certainly doable. There are ropes fixed at some points but I don't really need them so it's really not as hard as I initially thought. Second section is the longest in term of the distance but very easy with almost flat and solid surface. The last section is the one that you can see from crater rim where you camped, it is mainly made up from loose scree with plenty of dust (wearing a buff will be helpful here). Not as hard as I made to believe, but very very dusty.

View from the summit is a majestic 360 degree view with Bali and Mount Agung on one side, savannah on the other, plus Segara Anak and range of mountains. Totally worth the effort. Most people told me to bring gaiter but I don't have any issue without it, not a single rock entered my shoes but I can't say the same to my friends.

After descend, we went to the Segara Anak lake to camp. The descend from crater rim to Segara Anak was the most challenging due to the extreme heat. We started the descent a bit late at around 1.30pm due to one of my friends is a slow walker. Try to descent before noon as you will get shade due to sun directions during morning time. Hot spring near the lake is very welcomed after a long hike.

The last day from Segara Anak to Torean village is fairly easy, there is some sections that require hikers to be more attentive due to narrow path next to the cliff. The view is totally great but you will be exposed to the elements again. After a while, you will enter a jungle area with no view but that also means you no longer exposed to the element.

We trekked with Green Rinjani and I would rate them extremely high. Excellent service, the guide (Andhy) and porters really hardworking. I would recommend them without hesitation.

It's almost every experienced hiker dream to climb Mount Rinjani. The popular trek starts from Sembalun Village and finishes at Torean or Senaru Village. You need to go with a professional local guide and hire porters for a smooth and pleasant hike. The most difficult part will be at the summit where there are many sands and loose gravels. Wearing gaiter when summiting is advisable.

Probably one of the best mountain view in Indonesia. Thanks to the volcano, a lake was formed in it crater, and current another new volcano cone is formed inside the lake.

Recommended to spend 4 days 3 nights to fully enjoy the views and also more relaxing pace for the climb. Thanks to it volcanic terrain, it's very difficult to climb as you will slide down constantly. Especially so during the summit part.

Guides are needed, and porters will carry most of the things. You just need your main essentials (water, snacks and jackets)

very good place to visit. There are two main roads: from North (Senaru) and from North-East (from Sajang). The second one is the most common, there is option to shorten the path by using motirbike with driver, but anyway it requires some mental and physical condition from hikers.

We selected way from Senaru. I strongly don't recomment to go there is you don't have solid experience in advanced hiking. First of all way down from caldera ridge to the lake is abandoned, broken by time and mudflows. Second, you will need to hike youselves to caldera, there is no way to shorten the path by car or bike.
The weather was good, hikers (we) are very experienced but cannot imagine we do it while raining. So think twice before going this way... But we did, were lucky enough.

Moreover as I guess this way is forbidden and you cannot find official guide to go with from Senaru (we used early hiking, 4am to pass the gate to national park :) ).

One of the most challenging treks you will be embarking on. Training is definitely required if you want to enjoy the few days up there.
You would be staying in tents, and truly experiencing true outdoor hiking and trekking. The guides and porters are a must. The porters not only help you setup the tents and cook delicious food throughout the whole hike, but they also can help you carry your belongings for a small fee.
They have the 3D2N trek, but it might be a little rushed and taxing on your legs, so I would recommend to take the 4D3N trip. Plus you get an extra night camp out at the crater camp site. Expect strong winds and absolutely mind blowing number of stars.
Do not be like most hikers, misled by the short time, coz it is the intensity and steepness of the trek that will tax you. The last stretch (1km or so) would really be a true test of your grit. Push on and stick with your guide.
The view up at the summit is well worth it.

The best hiking experience with majestic view. Rinjani offer you hard climbing but worth every step of the journey. The track, sunrise, stargazing, hot spring, lake and everything is perfectly beautiful. Allah is the greatest!

Rinjani 3.676 meters above sea level. One of the best view volcano I've ever seen.

Pros:
Relatively easy to climb (no need any special equipment - just good shoes and hiking stick). Really, really beautiful view of sunrise or sunset or even the day it self. There are lot source of water. Lot of cheap porter. There are hot spring as well. Good food and lot of package option if you hire travel package. I will be there again this year.

Cons:
From airport took 3-4 hours to Sembalun or Senaru the starting hiking spot. No bath room at the top so you have to bring your own wet tissue or build your temporary bathroom. Cold and windy (sometimes), off course it is a mountain dude.
