At Darko's it's done how it's supposed to; local produce, everything from meat to fish to wine. There is no fancy menu with lots of items, but the stuff that is, is top notch. As is the service and atmosphere and personal touch from people that have lived through the island's history. Recommended!

There are no words to describe it. Darko is so lovely and does everything with love and smile!
If you want to feel like home- go for it. If you want to have heaven in your mouth and belly- go for it. And money? Yes- it is not cheap- but it is more worth than the money you pay for it. Local experience. We really enjoyed our time there.

Best Peka ever. We had fish and lamp, both were amazing. The farmer/owner/Fisher/cook/waiter (all the same person) was very nice and helpful, explained everything. He said himself the octopus Peka is the best. Next time we give it a try. Depending on the season probably everything in the Peka is from himself. IMPORTANT: order Peka best the day before, but latest around lunchtime for the evening (it's slow cooking 😉)

Dining at Darkos was one of my favorite dining experiences I have ever had. My husband and I were the only guests other than his few family members that were just hanging out. It was like dining in someone’s home. Darko was very attentive and kind and so were his family members. He went above and beyond our expectations. We had a salad, wine, water, bread, octopus peke, lamb peke, and cheese and peppers for dessert. We did spend about $100 for two people, but it was worth every penny! The food was fabulous and the total experience was something we will never forget. I loved how everything is farm to table and I love how passionate his is about his food. That’s so amazing that he farms and catches everything and serves it to his guests and family. I look forward to coming back to his restaurant in the future and couldn’t recommend his restaurant more! The people that gave him a 1 Star are absolutely ridiculous.

Best octopus peka on the island!
You can only come and dine if you pre-book the menu and the table. If you don't do that, you will be turned away on the spot as they only have the food enough for the people that made the reservation.
We stayed on Vis for a week aand every single place on Vis told us they don't do octopus peka because there is no octopus to buy. These guys actually went over and beyond to get the octopus. As it seems, the rule is: what you order they will try to make it happen.
True, prices are a bit higher but the owners (older couple) make everything by themselves the old way and would highly recommend this place for a nice homemade meal in a bit more private atmosphere!

Wonderful place. The food was fantasic and Darko was so nice to us. The food was very authentic. I think its good to know that thr wine is home made and natural. We even got to pet two baby lambs!

Do you know what's it like having a local family lunch? Well, reserve your time and your peka (really, any of them, we had octopus and it was excellent) and you'll meet Darko and his family, taste home-made syrup made from all kinds of berries (real good, but I cannot remember which was which), home-made bread (excellent) and of course the main course which is possibly peka for you too. (I was a bit worried by looking at pictures or how it's made but it was way better than any of those suggested. I really liked it.) Darko doesn't speak English well but he assists the lack of language with friendliness and creativity. ;-) Recommended, but know that reservation is a must.

Lovely place and great food!everything is fresh from their garden,or freshly caught in the sea. Darko and his wife are amazing hosts , we stayed for 3h talking to them, listening about islands history and some craxy fisherman stories. our 4y daughter was feeding the goats and enjoying it so much!definitely recommendable :)

Typical Croatian local restaurant. You should reserve the day before and ask for a traditional peka either octopus or meat. An excellent experience! You can also visit the kitchen.

Absolutely amazing. This place is authentic and so is the food you can eat here. Book in advance, i strongly recommend the octopus. If you want a fancy restaurant experience with overspiced store-bought food with fancy visuals for your IG posts this is not the place for you. But if you appreciate those little hidden corners of the world where good people make delicious food that is freshly caught and homegrown you will not regret it. Noone makes an octopus like Darko does. Price is higher then average but the value for money is amazing. A MUST if you are on Vis!

Just had a wonderful dinner at Darko's place. It's not just a great food, ambient was fantastic as well, and they were very pleasant hosts.
Meat takes two hours to prepare, so call up front. If you don't, you'll have nice selection from daily menu, we had a choice between goat stew and various types of sea food.
Whatever you have, don't miss local rakia made by Darko himself, I had rakia made of local herbs and it was something special!

The best octopus we’ve ever had, ever! The best rakija and wine we’ve ever had. The best konoba in Vis, the quality of the food is of the highest, recommend for small to large groups! Great service, all home grown local food!!!

Dario Is such a nice guy, I loved the terrace in the shades and breeze. Food is home made and fresh. Don't expect a cheap bill but it's not unreasonable.

Best hobotnica ispod peke I have ever eaten. Darko is super friendly, ask him to show you how it's made. :)

Best small local restaurant on island Vis. Everything is homemade and fresh. Try fish under peka and brudet. Wine Vugava is wonderfull! Must visit

The mediterranean as it once was with a host happy to seat you through all the stories of this beautiful island. Enjoy this while it lasts! Darko rules.

Amazing experience! It is about food but also much more than that. Lovely hosts, gastronomic heaven, incredible settings.
