Really special place to visit, unfortunately faith of people and unreal bravery of people working during siege.

Vukovar such an inspiring place; city of great suffering from the Serbian aggression and immense atrocities they committed including killing a pregnant woman (Ruža) whose statue is in front of the hospital. The place serves as a great memorial to the courage and skills of doctors and nurses and suffering of wounded soldiers and civilians most of whom were executed after being tortured at Ovčara.

This musuem, within the basement of a functioning hospital, must be seen to begin to comprehend the inhuman suffering inflicted upon the civilians and volunteer defenders of Vukovar during the Croatian Homeland War of 1991 by the Serd lead Yugoslav "People's" Army (JNA).
As a teen I watched events unfold in Croatia on my TV from the other side of the world, and thought I had a good grasp of it, but one cannot leave here without being moved.
Difficult to find due to lack of signage, but definitely worth visiting.
Warning: small children, and the weak of heart, may find the short introductory documentary film distressing as it contains war footage and emergency surgical procedures.
See the hospital first, the site where 200+ wounded were seized after the fall of Vukovar in November 1991, before heading to Ovčara, where they were slaughtered and buried in a nearby mass grave.
Then visit the cemetery.
Every Croatian needs to see Vukovar for what happened here must never be forgotten, or forgiven.

Really great exhibit showing what war was like for those in the hospital during the 1991 siege. The entrance is hard to find as there is no signage at all (enter right below the Red Cross sculpture) but it is well worth seeing.

A very deep place to visit. It's so crazy that humans did this. This only happened in the 90s too.

It is a very sad place for all us that survived the war. It is also a very sad place for all the people that can have empathy for the children and people that went through the madness of other people. War is never the answer. Lives of all these that died and have been captured can never be replaced.

I was on a school trip when I was visiting the Hospital, Hospital is in use but the memorial part is mostly unused, they showed us really sad and disturbing video which showed the recordings from the Homeland War, they were also mentioning how around 260 people were taken from Hospital to Ovčara, where they were, sadly, murdered...Back then in the Hospital there was only ONE surgery table which is not in use, there is a giant, heavy bomb which fell in the middle of Serbian patient's legs during the War, and bomb didn't even explode. In the hallway there is a long walk which has floor tiles on the left side where it has written all the critical and crucial moments of the War in the Hospital. It has a few unused rooms which are there to show the stimulation of Hospital rooms back then. And the most important sign of the Hospital is a red Cross with holes in it, because back in the War there was a red Cross in front of the Hospital so Serbians and Yugoslavian National Army (JNA) used to shoot in it to frighten patients, doctors and nurses.

Very interesting. Lots of information unknown to the public if you're not deeply involved with Croatia's Homeland war. Must visit this place to know the truth.

Located in the basement of the hospital, this memorial museum shows the living and working conditions of patients and doctors that tried to help them while being bombed by the serbians during the war.
