Mountain Nest

Darina and Rémi are fantastic hosts. They assisted us with great care from the moment we booked till our departure. They also prepare amazing food. Finally, location is breathtaking. Will definitely visit them again!

Quite easily the most beautiful accommodation we stayed in on our Guatemala trip. The hosts are wonderful and the property overlooks a stunning valley and is surrounded by gorgeous trees and wildlife.

I stayed here in October. So far it is one of the most beautiful places I stayed at in my life. Even though there were some big spiders in my room (yeah I am quite afraid of them) Rémy didn't hesitate to come down and take them out for me! Thank you Rémy! The food was amazing! Also due to strikes the roads to the multiple cities in Guatemala were blocked, however Rémy and his wife managed to find a transportion for me..and even when I arrived at Livingston, the owner of a hostel/hotel already knew about me and my plan of crossing border to Honduras, and he was able to provide me with a contact to do so. And all this because Rémy contacted him the day before that I will be arriving. Once again, thank you for the amazing hospitality and for liftig a little part of my fear of spiders by talking to me and explaining rational nature behaviour;) Your place was my highlight in Guatemala. The experience at Remy and Darina's was special and perfect! The photos do not reflect the beautiful view from the cabin and its special location.
Remy and Darina make sure that your experience will be not less than amazing, they help with everything you want: Shuttles, tours, explanation of the village, etc.. and of course the food they cook at a very, very high level!
We were there for 3 nights as part of our honeymoon and it was very hard for us to leave. Truly this is the most magical place we've spent time in!

La nida de montaña is such a beautiful escape. It is a little trek from Lanquin which you will need a transfer for, and then have to walk down a mountain path to arrive here. Remy was the most amazing host and helped with so many logistics and Carlos his neighbour met all of our needs bringing coffee and eggs basically as soon as we asked.

We had an incredible stay at Mountain Nest. Thank you Remy for sharing your beautiful home, and walking us through each detail as it was built by hand by you and some of the locals in your town. We were absolutely enchanted by the entire place, which is stunning in itself, as well as your peaceful and breathtaking views.

We also enjoyed the privacy of staying in the new cabin at the base of your land, and coming to the main home for breakfast and dinner. We enjoyed each meal at your table, and the hospitality was wonderful. We felt like guests visiting family and are very grateful.

Well, I don’t know where to start. Typically we don’t don’t do reviews but this one definitely deserves one. We came to Lanquin to see semuc champey and our experience would be just mediocre without our superb stay at the Mountain Nest.

The mountain nest is an idyllic place located in the beautiful mountain area of lanquin offering one of the most amazing views you can just imagine.
The host Remi is extremely helpful to make your stay as convenient and memorable as possible. The offered food is by far the best you can get in the area and you can do many activities as hiking and visit local families (for lunch) just from your accommodation. If you want to stay within nature and far beyond the backpacking mass tourism, don’t look further - this is the best place.

This was the place with one of the most incredible views I've experienced. Till my stay here, I've never realized how spectacular it gets to, actually, live at the top of the mountain. The two days, that I was fortunate to spend there, I've spent my mornings sitting for hours watching the constantly changing cloud formations in the valley below.
One of the other outstanding features of this place is how private and beautifully remote this place is. It, literally, is in the middle of nowhere and, at the same time, the super friendly and helpful hosts are only a few minutes of walk away.
The place, also, has all the modern comfort. Well equipped kitchen and, even, a hot water bathtub. I'm, definitely, hoping to be back.. Thank you so much, Darina abd Rami!

Remy welcomed me with much energy with good vibes! Ive lived close to the lake area for 2months, but was almost not be able to get along with the occasion. However my idea that i had regarding Guatemala had changed since
Ive seen how he settled in the local community. He gave me the other point of views! I learned things what i lacked. I really appreciate that i could have such a opportunity to stay there and talk with him!! ALSO, I love his cook and gas heated shower! Enjoy incredible nature from cozy balcony!!

Great spot for a remote stay in the heart of Lanquín!

I love it, getting the experience of being in the jungle in a cabin with all of the comfort of home. The view is amazing, the host are super!! I highly recommend it!!🥰

This was so awesome. Never had such a beautiful staying. Darina and Remy are super hosts, chefs and guides. Everything was perfect and view was spectacular! ☀☀☀

Darina et Remy nous ont reçu comme des rois dans leur havre de paix. Entre leur bienveillance et leur gentillesse on s'est sentis comme à la maison le temps du séjour. C'était une belle parenthèse dans notre voyage de backpackers, plutôt habitués aux auberges de jeunesse. Leur maison donne envie de se faire construire la même dans les Pyrénées, si ils acceptent d'être plagiés ! On a choisi la soirée partage, apéro et repas ensemble, mais pas d'inquiétude, si vous souhaitez rester tranquille, ils seront très discrets. La maison est cosy, parfaitement propre, confortable. Côté décors, le paysage est à couper le souffle, on comprend pourquoi ils sont allés jusqu'au bout du chemin pour trouver l'emplacement idéal ! Le cacao tour de Remy en plus d'être instructif était fun et dans l'ambiance familiale plus que commercial, en bref on est conquis, on les attends à la maison et on reviendra les voir un jour !

Ein wunderschöner Ort um zu entspannen und abzuschalten. Rémy ist ein sehr aufmerksamer und überaus freundlicher Gastgeber, zudem ein exzellenter Koch. Wir fühlten uns sehr wohl und willkommen. Es gibt genügend Aktivitäten und Rémy bietet die Möglichkeit, die lokale Kultur und Menschen kennenzulernen.

Excellent séjour à Mountain Nest. Rémy et Darina nous ont accueillis comme des rois. Leur cabane est sublime avec une vue à couper le souffle sur la vallée. Le tour du
cacao proposé par Rémy est très instructif pour comprendre les étapes de la fabrication d'un chocolat. Le déjeuner maya typique dans la famille de Carlos, puis le dîner et le petit déjeuner proposés par Rémy et Darina étaient excellents et pleins de saveurs. Nous avons également eu la chance de participer à une cérémonie Maya. Nous garderons un excellent souvenir de notre passage et des moments de partage vécus.
Je recommande vivement.

El lugar es increíble.
Lejos de las personas y en un lugar donde te puedes conectar con la naturaleza.
La comida es organica y hecha en casa, muy sabrosa.
Los hosts Remy y Darina son increíbles personas, muy amables y súper cordiales.
Esta a unos cuantos kilómetros de Lanquin en una aldea, recomiendo llegar en vehículo 4x4 porque el camino es de terraceria y con piedras.
¡Lo recomiendo!

Casa increíble cerca de Semuc Champey. Preciosas vistas, casa construida con cariño y pasión junto a la comunidad y en la que uno se siente como en casa. Desayunos y cenas deliciosos!
