Horsley Convenience Store and Post Office

This shop and post office sells almost everything you could think of and the owners are very friendly, helpful and competent. They have been an invaluable support to the community during the Covid-19 lockdown. Thank you both very much!

Has changed hands recently and been completely refurbished. New management are very helpful and friendly. Excellent prices and large range of items for sale as well as post office services.

What a fantastic Post Office and store. Not only did they support the local community during the current pandemic but they also kept the shop open to help. Thank you

A sort of sells it all shop with a small post office at the rear.
Staff generally not very friendly.

I was unfortunate to be waiting in the queue when I witnessed the exceptionally poor treatment of the lady being served ahead of me. The counter assistant was completely unhelpful and rude. I certainly will not be going there again.

I notice that the Post Office on Bishopsmead Parade gets consistently good reviews. I'll go there in future.

Regarding your reply:
You are wrong. She definitely did not want to take it back. She simply asked to take a picture of you holding the parcel as proof that she had handed it over. She had only dropped it off 10 mins earlier but you came up with numerous excuses why you wouldn't let her do that. Including saying that it had already been collected when you had previously said that the collection was at midday and it was now just after 1pm.
You handled her very badly and I suggest you take a course on customer service.

Today is the second poor experience I have had at the Horsley Convenience Store.

My first encounter to post some items was last October. The items were postage paid online and the weighted amount was not correct although with the price band. These were not accept so I just went up to bishopsmead which were prepared to weigh the items as every other post office does and confirmed it was acceptable to post.

Today under the lockdown conditions I waited briefly whilst the post mistress was on the phone. The post bags were behind and she waved and said they weren’t accepting post. She then turned away. No apology and when I tried to get her attention she ignored me. It could be that they weren’t accepting post but that wasn’t indicated, it could be that it was past the last postage which could have been more likely however it was the complete lack of consideration and explanation that ensures I shan’t be using this poor excuse for a post office in future.

The person who mans the post office part overcharged me for 6 items and counted all of my large letters as small parcels. Service is slow and unfriendly so I won’t be returning. The lady who runs the East Horsley post office (Maynards) is so lovely and more experienced with sending Royal Mail items so I would recommend going there.
