We have been to the fox and pheasant twice. Better than all the hotels and guest houses we have ever experienced. 1st class accomodation and food. Super friendly staff. You will not be disappointed! Crane brothers .

We stopped as we were passing from a afternoon hike to have a few beers and some food. Food was fantastic. They had a large selection of veggie food, as well as a good range of starters and regular mains. Service was fantastic. We will definitely be coming back while we are on our holiday.

I can't rate rooms or service as we went for lunch! I had the smoked salmon sandwich and loved it (even with the butter I asked not to used on my bread lol). The place is very warming and the staff is very welcoming! I'll be back! 😀

Out for a family meal and there was a slight mix up with starters....more than made up for when the chef sent an additional 2 starters out free of charge for the mix up. The meal was delightful waiting staff were really friendly and approachable. A great selection of ales ...especially welcome on a warm day. All in all a very good dining and drinking experience in lovely surroundings. Will definitely be back soon

We had completed the "Armathwaite Challenge" raising funds for the BHF and we all came here afterwards. We had the Sunday roast, one of the best roasts I have ever eaten, it was delicious. Very bust but we were well looked after by the staff.

Popped along on bank holiday Monday. It was a nice day, plenty of outdoor seating and entertainment to suit everyone. There was a children's entertainer who kept the kids happy with lots of balloon modelling. A solo singer, James, kicked off the afternoon with plenty of big hits from the 60s-90s followed by a 3 piece band into the early evening. I didn't have anything to eat but everything looked delicious that I saw. Great community pub and well supported.

Lovely village Inn at Armathwaite in the Eden Valley. Plenty of covered and open outdoor seating infront of the pub. Inside its flagged floors in the bar area (great for dogs and walking boots). The beers were extensive and well kept. There's also a restaurant at the side. Luckily for us they're open on a Monday afternoon too! Staff were welcoming. Thoroughly recommend a visit.

Delicious food in a room looked like my grandma’s reception room. Love the atmosphere!

Stopped here on a bike ride and had some fantastic food. We ordered the meat pizza and the black and blue burger. Service was great and we will definitely be coming back when we are next in the area!

Returned for an evening meal. Can only reiterate that the quality did not disappoint. This is a great place for a cosy night out. On the dessert menu was a chocolate ginger lime cheesecake... sounds like it shouldn't work, but it does - divinely! Also, this is definitely one of the friendliest restaurants in Cumbria!

Looked in as a lunch option this past bank holiday. We hadn't booked a table but found seating outside and were served a really good meal (beef and ale pie highly recommended). Portions are generous and good value for money. Definitely worth a visit after an amble through Coombes Wood.

Genuinely amazing inn with beautiful views. We enjoyed a lovely family meal and drinks whilst passing through. The food was second to none, generous portions, fresh ingredients and a great menu with something for everyone. The children's meals are also a great size and much nicer than anywhere else. The staff are welcoming and happy to help in any way they can. Very clean with a great atmosphere. We will be back very soon

We went for lunch, a group of nine of us including 2 children, we also had 2 dogs with us. We were given a room at the front of the building which we were told was just for us which was perfect. The food was very good, everyone enjoyed their meal and there was a very good vegetarian selection for the vege among us. The lamb Henry was particularly good! The service was excellent, our waitress was lovely and we were made to feel very welcome. We thoroughly enjoyed the couple of hours we spent there and would happily return when next in the area.

Well worth a visit if you're nearby. Two of us popped in for a roast after a cold morning on the bikes. Decent roast beef with the usual sides and didn't cost the earth. Really fast service and decent beer selection for a rural pub.

What a lovely , cozy old fashioned pub and restaurant. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon so tried the Sunday roast which was absolutely fantastic. Clearly home made Yorkshire puddings and definitely none of that bisto instant gravy nonsense and the chips that we had on the evening were also homemade. A roaring open fire, friendly bar and restaurant staff and amazing food, it’s no surprise they have won awards.

Nice rooms, great staff and a friendly pub with open fire and good atmosphere. The food is very good with generous portions. If you are staying over the breakfast is superb and will set even those with the biggest appetite up for the day. And all set in a lovely quiet sleepy village with good rail links to nearby villages plus Carlisle and Leeds.
