This is a great life to visit, I have visited on May occasions. I have had the pleasure of having a theatre dining experience at the restaurant. The food was lovely. I’ve been to the old fairground machines which was hilarious and so cheap. The fish and chip shop is one of the best in town! Just watch out for the cheeky seagulls!

Love this pier. The old fashioned amusement arcade is brilliant. I decided to give Frankenstein a miss this time and put my hand in the fierce dog cage instead. Hilarious 😂. Loved the wall of mirrors, the niche gift shops and coffee shops. Even better that the weather was dry and warm. A good old fashioned seaside visit.

Absolutely love the beautiful stretch of white beach sand and the joy of everyone out and enjoying themselves. Children building sand castles, or perhaps the adults enjoying it just as much. Lovely shops and places to eat in the town and overall lovely and clean. To see the colourful beach huts that seem to go on forever. All well kept and a joy to see. Walk ways along the beach was so worth the walk and see the lovely views out into the sea. Next time will make a weekend of it.

Beautiful beach with stunning pier and lots of parking nearby! Beach huts make a pretty sight either side of the pier lining the beach promenade. It’s a lovely beach to wander along and you can venture into the lovely town which has a good variety of shops, cafes and restaurants!

Great fun, with excellent café, restaurant, and gift shops. And don't miss the under the pier show - ingenious!

Great little Pier. Lovely for some nice pictures. I just think that fish and chips are overpriced everywhere. It’s just chips and fish, but they charge £8 plus for the portion of chips and a only fish that will last nothing.
Please, make cheaper - maybe £6 or £5. Big families will always think twice before spending £50 plus. My opinion only.
Other than that the Piers is beautiful and the walk around is great.

A delightful and quaintly British tourist attraction. I visited on a very quiet day but imagine that it would be a very popular hotspot for holiday makers and day trippers. The whole pier appears well maintained and clean and the lack of noisy in your face amusement arcades is a definite plus!

If you enjoy sea, sand and traditional seaside cafe food, then this is it. But being a 'local' for the last twenty years, I have to say that's even better once the holiday frenzy dies down. We timed our recent visit at the end of the afternoon as day visitors we're leaving & the B&B crowd were just getting over the shock of eating out; a friend with a beach hut had an open evening which was great. Treated ourselves to two huge scoops of ice cream each. Then, chilled, & away from the high street, queued for ten minutes just before the cafe on the pier closed. Not too pricey, decent sized fishcakes, & excellent chips. Enjoyed as the evening was drawing in & everyone was going home.

MThis was my 1st visit to Southwold Pier & beach & was pleasantly surprised by how beautiful it was. It was also very clean & rather popular with adults, families with small children & a lot of dog walkers. It was easily accessible with my mobility scooter as was the high street.

Really sweet little pier (- be ideal if they renewed the external white paintwork as it's looking abit worn/untidy in places, could make more of the George Orwell connection artwork perhaps, as this is/could be more special maybe? As it's a cool feature). This would make it all look really good, but obviously realise marine environments are very tough on buildings). However little shops are very well kept, interesting to look around, some nice products, nice staff (on our visit anyway).. & also provide good cover from showers(!) as do some seating areas (& there's a lot of outdoor seating too). It's free to walk the length; not very long so an easy walk, nice views of the town & sea, beach, etc. Found despite a little bit of renovation work in the middle, it was pretty flat, fairly wide, pretty accessible & quite easy to traverse. Some fishing off the pier end, you couldnt fit too many anglers on there 'tho, so busier days you probably couldnt/wouldnt want to try).. I didnt notice anyone catch, but intense rain prevented further enquiry!
Toilets in the carpark are handily close by too, though you do have to come off the pier itself (- they had paper, water & soap all running well, reasonably clean; for public, at time of visit).
Was impressed with the Boardwalk restaurant for lunch, at time of visit they were very friendly, polite, provided a quick service & nice food & drink selection, plenty of room. Had a very nice coffee & a nice rosé wine. Fish finger sandwiches with pea puree & salad, but done with 'real' v flaky fish & in an almost tempura-style batter (I think) & unusual dressing. Cafe style seating overlooking sea outside & restaurant tables inside. Would like to visit again for an evening fish meal (- presume locally caught?) as seem of a pretty good standard & not overly expensive ('tho we never find food out exactly 'cheap' anywhere now, but it wasn't excessive).
Didn't go into end of pier show/old fashioned pier entertainment machines bit (can't think of correct name!?) but looked quite intriguing. Last visit was a bit disappointed with our fish & chip meal on the pier (- at entrance; plenty of seating or can take onto beach or pier), as it was rather small, felt over-priced, fish kind of 'over processed' & we didn't rate the quality much. However, this was some time ago(!) & so cannot judge this time as it could have changed, a lot. But it is very convenient to have it there. Ice creams were good 'tho & the range of bits & bobs, & treats on sale useful..
Brief look at modern arcade area, which was small & partner felt was a bit limited, & pricier compared to others, n some prizes offered really not great (lol). But not generally having frequented these for years & years(!) & no expert, I suspect they are all a bit like this?! (You could always have lost quite a bit of money in them if not careful).. However, it has quite a good range of different games & machines for a small arcade, old & newer, not all on screens which is nice, 'tho it even had a VR game area. I think it'd still be a laugh, especially for families to while away a bit of time in & ideal if the weather changes for the worst, which it did. So nice to have it there, obviously not everyone's cup of tea (- we much prefer looking at nature, getting a walk, food al fresco etc, which you can also do), but I have seen much, much more gaudier & overbearing arcades on seafronts! It's quite tucked away & not very loud, which is good (otherwise it'd spoil the pier I think?). So generally, there's a nice mix of different things to do on the pier.

Step back into classic and maybe a little eccentric place with Southwold pier, although we visited after most things had closed the weird and wonderful arcade was really interesting including the weird creepy music. There are also some joke mirrors on the North side which gave us a few laughs. I think its a place to revisit in the not too distant future.

Lovely old pier still in good condition and free to walk along, with ice-cream parlours, slot machines, weird 'one off' games, gift shops and a great view up and down the coast. Dog friendly and safe for children.

Foot long battered sausage and chips with chipotle Mayo after a long afternoon walk along the coast from Kessingland followed by a locally brewed beer in the Sole Bay Inn under the lighthouse. What was just a little dot on the horizon had many hidden treats!
