Basecamp Wales (Snowdonia)

Excellent place to stay before hiking in Snowdonia.

2 minute drive away from a nearby co-op for quick food, rooms were very clean, staff were responsive and kind, the pool table is only 20p per game, tv in main room has Netflix, bbc iplayer etc, kitchen was very clean as well.

Overall 11/10 very good value for money.

I love this place. It was a much welcome break after a busy week. Perfect location - close to the trails and the sea as well as local amenities. The staff are super friendly and knowledgeable. Also, the room and the kitchen area were immaculate. I cannot wait to come back!

For the price this hostel is fantastic. We stayed in a double room. Beds were really comfy, and had a good shower and bath. We didn’t use the kitchen facilities but they looked good. The receptionist was really helpful and friendly and gave us lots of advice on snowden.

A well worn but well serviced hostel in a gorgeous location. Wake up before dawn to see the sunrise over the mountains. Price was very reasonable. Beds were comfortable and all linens and towels free of charge I our ensuite. Ensuite had a bathtub, so perfect for young kids. Kitchen is spacious and well equipped. The lounge has kids toys, two TVs, a pool table and plenty of comfortable seating. The pool table is only 20p a game. Cereal, tea and coffee are bought via honesty box, so bring change if you aren't quite prepared. Chickens and rooster supply free eggs and alarm clock, respectively. Only complaint was old carpets in the halls. Overall excellent.

Great hostel with fantastic facilities. Booked a double bunk bed room for 4 of us before heading out in the morning for Snowdon. Couldn't be more pleased by the value for money with large double beds, excellent kitchen facilities, pool table and great lounge area. Cleanliness of the place was outstanding and the guy at the reception was friendly and helpful. Lots of information on Snowdon and it's various routes with maps and guidance available. Just outside there's some chickens, horse fields and llamas relaxing. Service is the same as any good hostel with facilities provided to cook your own food (If not there's some simple bits available for snacks and refreshments on an honestly system.), hot water available throughout the night for early showers before heading off. Very friendly environment, would definitely recommend if in the area.

Awesome hostel located at the foot of Snowden. Tim is very welcoming and a font of local knowledge. The rooms are basic as you'd expect but very clean and comfortable. The kitchen and common room are very well equipped and modern. Would definitely recommend Basecamp Wales for families.

Recently stayed at this place while working in the local area, couldn't have asked for more really, the beds are comfy, decent powerfull showers and full kitchen to use for cooking so no expensive eating out.

Excellent facilities and incredibly well priced for its position, cleanliness and helpfulness of the two friendly owners. It's perfect for the lone traveller who simply needs a base from which to explore Snowdonia and the surrounding area. It's also perfect for families working on a tight budget. What you get for your money is well in excess of what you pay for as the rooms, lounge and kitchen are all incredibly good. I would wholeheartedly advise anyone to try it as I'm sure most would return as I always do.

Booked for an overnight stay with my son. Wasn't sure to expect for the price but we had an excellent stay. Tim and Tom were super friendly, the place was spotless and all you need after exploring Snowdonia. If you want luxury then this isn't for you. If you want a friendly place to relax and unwind after exploring the lakes, mountain beaches etc then this is definitely for you. Great value, we will be back.

Friendly owners, decent rooms had 3 beds, cupboard/wardrobe, sink and mirror.
Shared bathrooms but didn't affect stay. Always clean.
We loved the fact we was sharing the kitchen, dining room, TV and pool room because it was a nice atmosphere being with other explorer's to talk too.
Perfect location for all our activities including view of snowdon Mountain.
We intend on going back to base camp for more Welsh adventures one day.

amazing place! great friendly service from the 2 brothers! I love the animals, you can feed them too! comfy bed, clean toilet, enough space for everyone! the only downside is lot of people that staying there didn't wear mask in the communal area, wish the staff are more strict about it.

Great hostel, best 1 I've stayed in. Really cosy and friendly atmosphere, great facilties and had a bath in our ensure bathroom!! Really comfy bed with a double duvet on the single bed..😁

Excellent value for money. The communal facilities weren't outstanding but more than adequate. Only criticism was that the room I was on had a communal balcony and the only ventilation in the room was to open the door which meant anyone along the balcony could walk in.

Great place to stay and very friendly service from two brothers. The places are quiet and rooms are clean. We had a private room and we woke up with a view of snowdon. There was a nice vibe at the place and everyone respects each other. They even provide fresh eggs from the hens :-) We'd definitely come back again.

What a gem of a place to find. We stayed for one night. Our party had single rooms with shared facilities and one room was an en suite room for 4.
Bunk beds in shared rooms. Bear in mind if you have climbed Snowdon, you might not want to climb into a top bunk!
Great kitchen facilities to self cater and a range of nearby take aways that deliver. Parking is plentiful and there are chickens and alpacas to see and feed.
Great prices to stay. Beds were comfy. The shared showers weren't amazing but got you wet. Very clean. WiFi available in the hostel itself.
Views of Snowdon from some rooms which is lovely. Bedding, towels and hand soap provided, along with washing up liquid and the usual kitchen bits and bobs. Bring your own food and drink. Tea and coffee available for a very small charge. Television in shared lounge and plenty of tables to eat at. Only down was the location. It's very out of the way on the other side from Snowdon.
If you're driving it's not an issue.
Friendly staff and lots of knowledge of local area. You may get disturbed by banging doors as people come in and out of rooms at different times. But apart from that it's a quiet out of the way hostel where you can meet and chat with like minded people.
I would stay here again and would recommend.

Great location with all attractions close. Has everything you could need in the kitchen/common room and is very clean. I had a single room that was large clean and had a comfy bed with fresh smelling linen and towels. Shared toilets were clean and the showers were boiling hot. It's near a village that has a co-op, pub and variety of takeaways. Thanks guys.

Great location between the sea and the mountains. Lots of activity options.
The guys were really friendly and welcoming.
The rooms were nice and clean, with all the facilities you'd need for a nights rest before climbing Snowdon. We didn't need it for more.
The communal kitchen worked out better than I thought. Loads of people also liking the set-up, as witnessed in the evening with people cooking their own meals for families.

Very good hostel. The room and bathrooms are very clean. Location is great. They have animals like alpaca's that you can feed and pet. The beds are very comfortable after a busy day. Thanks for your hospitality Tim!
