It was simply magical. I had a Book "Spa Day" voucher. Basically going in to speak to someone about your favourite books and genres to get recommendations - Laura was so incredibly knowledgeable and easy to talk to, and I walked away with my arms full of incredible books I can't wait to read. Just a truly delightful, glorious way to spend an afternoon. Can't wait to go back.

What a wonderful world we stepped into! What I thought was to be a run of the mill bookshop turned out to be the most magical place! I would totally bring my kids here to walk around and be delighted by the array of books and colour. Beautifully decorated inside.

Mr. B's Emporum might be my new favourite bookshop, and that says a lot. The staff was friendly, talkative and had tons of recommendations for a fellow bookseller. They had a broad and curated selection and the sweetest children's section I've seen in a long time. If you're looking for people who know their books and unique recommendations based on your own taste, this is definitely the place to go.

A really lovely independent bookshop that's definitely a hidden gem, lovely decor and staff. We went to the Andy Day event and my son had an absolute blast! And I had a totally acceptable level of fun for an adult...totally.

I can’t say enough good things about this shop. It’s so lovely and has tons of books I had never seen before, along with beautiful stationery products. They also put many books by local authors to the front, which was great for us, as tourists!
I’m a bookworm and bookstores are my happy place. This one is definitely on top of my list of favorites, and truly fits right in with the ambiance of Bath.😌

The store itself is full of charm, and the staff is wonderful. The novel I picked up had some imperfections and they offered me a small discount towards it, since it was the last copy available, which was really appreciated.

What a delight! I visited for a book spa. Essentially, a private consultation and curated recommendations on reading. This is such a good book store. Lots of little areas so it feels quite intimate, comfy seating, tailored displays. Staff are knowledgeable, friendly and just nice bookshop people. Now I know about this amazing shop I will return. Again. And again. Highly recommend for personal browsing and gifts. Feeling blue? Go browse a book. Feeling happy? Go buy a book. Need some retail therapy? Go buy many books. I did and I'm now exceedingly content. Thank you!

The staff were amazing. We went in looking for a board game and came out with 4 books and more to buy in the future.

They're extremely knowledgeable and they will discuss book genres that you enjoy, with excitement and enthusiasm .

We had known of Mr B's bookshop since a friend gave us a gift subscription to their excellent book-choosing service. Visiting the shop recently only served to confirm the view that this is an absolutely wonderful bookshop. They have a very wide-ranging and well-curated stock with books to suit everyone but it is the staff that make the place really shine. The Mr B's team really know their stock and are experts at eliciting a reader's needs and recommending the right book. To listen to one of their children's staff doing just this was an absolute delight - she was so considerate and never talked down to the children that she advised (the children's department is also a beautiful and inviting space). Terrific place!

Awesome bookshop! We had a browse around after a recommendation and can certainly agree it's well worth a visit if you are a book lover! I am truly to my core obsessed with this bookshop and every single amazingly knowledgeable and helpful person who works here. Literally every staff member is a book recommending genius and I go out of my way to find reasons to stop in and get recommendations about hyperspecific types of books. They NEVER miss. It is truly a delight every time I come in, they can take all my money. Their online book recommendation service is also incredible and I’ve been telling everyone to please get me a reading spa voucher for my birthday as it’s just such a wonderful service. I haven’t yet attended an author event but they all look fantastic and I can’t wait to go to one!

I didn't have long enough to immerse myself in what can only be described as the best independent bookshop I've ever been in! Lovely little quiet corners, very well presented with recommendations of books everywhere. I've booked a book spa & very much looking forward to going back to spend more time at Mr B's 🙏

A superb book shop for browsing, but what makes Mr B's special is the monthly book service they run.

Filling out the questionnaire is a good experience and then your book is picked for you by one of their staff. They make some very good choices and it really widens your reading tastes.

Incredibly helpful staff and a must visit if you’re in Bath! Everyone is so knowledgeable and reads a variety of genres so there’s always someone that has read something you’re interested in. The recommendations are brilliant and usually highly rated on goodreads (if that’s something you look at when buying books). Couldn’t catch his name but one of the staff members really took their time listening to what we liked to read and spent a good 20ish minutes picking off books and summarising them. Would definitely recommend stopping by, I wish I lived closer to visit more often!

Despite rooms and rooms full of books, it's clear that each book is chosen with care. Fabulous selection, knowledgeable and friendly staff, and delights on every shelf. Don't miss a floor! I am also dreaming about signing up for a Reading Spa-- personalized "bookish pampering" complete with cake. I love the staff recommendations and the Hall of Fame choices especially!

Such attentive and friendly staff, whose passion for books carries over into their conversations with you. Helpful to the extreme, letting us leave our shopping bags at the till so that we could browse without carrying everything.

One of the best bookshops you will ever visit. Incredibly knowledgeable staff, a huge range of books across all categories, comfy chairs to sit and contemplate your purchases and nooks and crannies full of unexpected gems.

A really interesting subscription service is available along with a small number of self-published books. Events are worth keeping an eye on.

I received Mr B's 3 months book subscription as a gift for my birthday last year and I loved it. All the books I received were brilliant and beautiful wrapped and the team is super helpful and responsive!
