Best fish and chips ive tasted in a long time. Good sized fish and generous amount of chips. Cooked to perfection to be honest. Will definitely come here again :-)

Best chippy in the World. Food is always cooked fresh so you have to wait, but my god its worth the wait!! I had haddock and chips, and my missus had chips and battered sausage. Gorgeous. This place is 5-star rated for cleanliness and hygiene and no wonder, its owner was spraying the surfaces and cleaning the outside of his friers whilst he was waiting for our food to cook. Immaculate. Don't take our word for it, try it yourself!

I'm a coach driver. I've eaten fish n chips from Inverness to Hastings & everywhere in-between! The Sandgrounder in my opinion is up there amongst the best in the UK! Chips were thee best I've seen & eaten. Fish was excellent, crispy batter with none of the gooey, slimy, spongy white uncooked stuff underneath. Fish itself was tasty, chunky, flaky white! Fish & chips only £7.00 & a big enough fish & a generous portion of chips. Believe me that's cheap compared with the south. The Sandgrounder would be justified in charging way more considering the high standard of food I received, in my opinion. I will definitely be visiting The Sandgrounder everytime I'm in Southport in the future. Based on my overall experience today, I can confidently highly recommend. (It's only fair I mention that the pics I took are a tad pale in comparison to real life).

We had a late decision tea from here to take back to our room and so glad we did, my husband had fish chips and peas, I had chips and peas, it’s was really lovely. The chip shop is spotless, I would not hesitate to come back if we’re in the area again.

This was my first traditional fish and chips in a long time as I live in Japan. I have to say that it didn’t disappoint. Great crispy delicious cod and lots of lovely cooked chips served with salt and vinegar. My wife also loved the food - it’s her first trip to the UK! I was also impressed with the clean and spacious eat in area on the second floor. Thank you for the trip down memory lane and the delicious food.

Had fish chips peas and curry. Yummy scrumptious. Lovely upstairs dining area and convienient toilet. One review said it was the best. Very much inclined to agree

A quick Friday evening visit to Southport could mean only one thing.... Chippy tea!! We dropped on the Sandgrounder and what a gem of find this place was. The food was really enjoyable and servings were a good size for all of us. The staff were friendly and helpful too! Definitely worth a try... We will be back again next time we are in town!!!

The Sandgrounder has been a staple of Southport life for years. I have great memories of eating scraps with my Grandad as a kid.

I took my partner for a trip down memory lane and she agreed they serve the best chips we’ve had in years.

The staff are friendly and funny, the food is great and we paid £6 for sausage, chips and curry sauce. You can’t get better!

Lovely little chippy we opted to sit outside as the weather was permitting but they also have dine in facilities.

Fantastic food, great prices. Only annoying part was the gulls and people feeding them. Maybe some signs would be good, other than that fantastic!

Stopped for a takeaway brew , afew times,, good cuppa, good prices 👍 nice staff. 10/10

3x Fish & Chips and Sausage & Chips.

Portion sizes were just right, and the price was reasonable considering the location.

Food was freshly prepared, and you could really tell. Tasty flakey fish and chips just crispy with enough stodge to be filling.

I'll definitely go again next time we're over that way.

The people where very friendly and happy. The food was lovely especially the curry sauce. And very reasonable prices compared to other places we saw. Would definitely recommend a d will come back again.

When we are on our day trips we always try to stop for fish and chips. And this place is one of our favourites. Good quality food and good service. Staff are very friendly and helpful.
