Friendly staff, friendly people, great beer garden, dog friendly, great selection of real ales on hand pull, reasonably priced drinks .... what's not to like about the place 👍

Regularly pop in with family for a couple of drinks.

Best pub in Cockermouth by far. Great choice of drinks, soft drinks and coffees, teas etc and always spotless.

Good for watching sport and attracts a good crowd of regulars.

Whent for sunday dinner and we were not disappointed food is out of this world. Probably one of the best sunday dinners I've had the place is amazing and full of history 5* all the way. If there was a down side is staff could do with being more attentive and we had to ask to get a drink order same with food and dessert.

Delicious food!! Make sure you're hungry when you come here, the portions are very filling! We wanted to try the desserts but had absolutely no room after our amazing homemade steak and ale pies. The filling of the pies was just divine, plenty of meat and delicious sauciness. Definitely recommend a meal here if you're in Cockermouth! Great selection of beers too, including local lake district options.

Great beers and wines. Happy hour on real ales 4 until 6. Very nice interior with a real fire. A real ale cask marque pub, a guarantee of a great pint. Best pub in town.

Clearly a very popular place with locals - in a town centre with plenty of choice - the Castle was handy for our hotel and offered a splendid range of drinks (especially ales) at reasonable prices. My abiding memory is sadly that of watching our Lionesses fall short on a Sunday morning, however!

We had Sunday lunch here & we were pleasantly surprised. The meal was very good VFM & the staff were friendly and helpful. We would return if in the area.

Very friendly pub (and very dog friendly), superb selection of real ales in perfect condition, also a good selection of keg beers too. One of the top places on my list of great pubs in West Cumbria. A proper ale house.

Spent a very pleasant couple of hours in here. Was very impressed with the beer choice and the condition they were in. The Titanic Plum Porter was fantastic.

Amazing food great staff will visit again

We visited the Castle Bar early evening on Saturday hoping to get a table in the restaurant but found it very busy. After being served at the bar and speaking to Kev the barman he managed to find us a table in the restaurant upstairs and was very helpful and friendly. His customer service skills were excellent.
I would defiantly recommend the food, drink and service.

I agree with my daughter in-law,who said she was glad we had not discovered this place on the first day , because we would have been the size of pigs by the end of the week. The food was exceptional and there was a lot of it. The staff were Great and the setting was perfect and so relaxed.
