This cafe is very friendly, lovely old atmosphere and lovely, kind helpful staff. Their food is delicious with lots of options. I had their Vegetarian breakfast which I requested. The hash browns were not the crispiest but their fried onions were one of the most delicious portions I’d had with a breakfast before. The only disappointment was that I asked for they got confused between vegetarian and vegan so they gave me the vegan breakfast meaning I had no egg. I didn’t correct them as I was in hurry to catch a train but they said as I paid they certainly would have solved it for me. Overall delicious food, lovely old fashioned atmosphere with kind helpful staff. Highly reccomend this place

If you’re looking for a great breakfast option in Carlisle, look no further! The coffee is delicious (they’ve been doing it for a while) and the food menu is great, using locally sourced ingredients. They have a lot of coffees to choose from for home use as well.

Normally I wouldn’t recommend this, but pay a visit to the toilet downstairs while you’re there: there’s basically a whole museum of coffee history and other artifacts on the way down!

Excellent cafe with accompanying shop.
A place with a real legacy in Carlisle's heritage. The chain high street coffee shops are all well and good, but John Watt is the real, authentic thing. Recommended.

Excellent coffee and had coffee ground whilst we ate so it was ready to collect as we left. Helpful staff. Not a lot of seating so a bit squashed in but not enough to be a problem.

Lovely cake and coffee. Had the coffee and cake deal, brilliant value for money. Good service and lovely interior including the walk down to the toilets. Lots of character.

A really lovely little cafe in the city centre. Excellent customer service with tasty food.
We ordered an afternoon cream tea which came with sandwiches of our choice, a scone, cream, jam, tea or coffee for £11.95!
The sandwiches were superb with thickly cut, fresh bread and a range of fillings. The jam for the scone is all freshly made too.
All the food is cooked freshly to order and worth the short wait.

Staff are very friendly and I really enjoyed my chocolate milkshake. If you go downstairs to use the restroom there is an interesting, and unexpected, little museum of sorts. Nice ambience.

This is a lovely traditional coffee house with a vast menu of teas and coffees to try together with exceptional light bites, cakes and pastries. They also sell the teas and coffees should you wish to take some home. Coffee beans are ground while you wait and there is often a fantastic aroma just outside when they are roasting the beans! Staff are always friendly and helpful should you want to know anything about the products on sale. Service with a smile. Well worth a visit if you're in Carlisle.

Had good strong coffee here with a couple of ladies. Good service. Fresh grinder coffee available too. I’d go back next time I’m in Carlisle.

Delicious coffee! No shopping trip to Carlisle is complete without a coffee in here. Refreshingly local too. Their own blend filter coffee is exceptionally good.

Great little spot! My daughter and I were visiting from Canada, and were strolling around Carlisle for a day. We came upon this little place, and popped in for a bite. The food was great, and the servers were very friendly and cheerful. Lovely spot to sit and relax for a bit. Will visit again someday for sure!

We had lunch here a couple of days ago. We both ordered baked potatoes with cheese. Someone came to take our order almost as soon as we were seated, and our order arrived very quickly after that. They were delicious, a good size and were served with a side salad with dressing. The prices were very good value. We also bought fresh coffee beans to take away with us. Wonderful coffee. Good quality. Will definitely be coming back.

Warm, welcoming and and all round friendly place and amazing food with a wide selections on herbal teas and creamy coffee's. Today me and my family have had a full English breakfast and it was exquisite, I recommend the Japanese cherry tea to wash it down with. The staff as all so lovely and all hands on board when you step in and I'm please to say I will definitely be coming here again.
