The service is
excellent hard working staff will always do they're best to help you . This is an extremely busy surgery the girls answering the phones have they're work cut out with limited appointments available.
You may be asked to contact the pharmacy that will be able to help you under what's called the common ailments scheme CAS where you will be seen by a pharmacist and offered a prescription if needed. eg sore throat, tonsillitis, rashes, bites and stings, Hayfever,
conjunctivitis,
Diarrhoea,
If all patients were able to contact the pharmacy in the first instance this would alleviate the calls coming through to the surgery and more appointments would be available
at the surgery for
them to offer patients.
Most patients don't need to ring and see the Gp for minor issues self care or pharmacy is the best option

I was surprised, and shocked to see negative reviews of this medical practice. They have cared for me and my family with efficiency and compassion for several decades now. Their professional care is right up to date, and they have always had time for explanations and advice.
Our socialised health care system is popular, and not without cause. Across the Atlantic serious illness can lead to financial ruin; that is not something we usually need to consider. We must however accept that resources are finite, and not all treatment or referral options will be available. I have no hesitation in recommending Meddygfa Penygroes to anyone moving to the area. They offer a superb service, through your choice of Welsh or English.

All 5 star reviews are from staff, the doctors have no idea what they're doing. My GP told me I needed to get an x-ray at St. David's hospital, specifically St. Davids hospital. I asked her in the surgery before leaving, "Are you sure it's not Glangwili hospital?" and she made me look stupid with a sarcy, "No, go to St. Davids". When I go to St. Davids I am told there is no x-ray here, and that I should make my way to Glangwili. First impressions not great, was told I had a bone spur but seeing as she had misinformed me about St. Davids hospital it could be literally anything. Maybe hire professionals, I don't know. Maybe that could help.

Absolutely disgusting. I have a chronic biloma ulcerated ulcers on my liver, a bile duct injury which is causing me an enormous amount of pain and suffering. I was diagnosed with this waited two years to see a specialist still hasn’t happened. Asked to be referred to Queen Elizabeth Hospital with the findings at Glangwili hospital with the above diagnosis when I went to Queen Elizabeth Hospital they said you were here for tummy pains. What can we do they did not even send the findings of the CT scan at Glangwili Hospital. They sent me up there all the way to Birmingham for a blood test and to start the procedure all over again. I’m not following on the prognosis. I had at Glangwili Hospital because the referral to Queen Elizabeth did not receive the information from the doctors, absolutely disgusting made a number of complaints in person and by email they don’t even care. Stay well away if you value your health disgusting doctors, they do not care

Edited to add: The 5 star review below mine is written by one of the receptionists, so should not be taken as accurate.

Absolutely disgusting treatment of patients, from reception to GPs. After many a terrible experience, today's has been the final straw. The main GP is the worst doctor I've ever experienced, but worse still are the reception staff, who are rude and seem to enjoy denigrating sick people.

I am on long-term, regular medication as I am disabled and have multiple physical and mental conditions. Every, single time, without fail, there is an issue with my prescription. Missing tablets, incorrect medication, prescriptions not being put through etc. I dread to think how much time I have spent on the phone trying to get the medication I need. It is absolutely not rocket science, so I am unsure as to where the receptionists have learned their roles.

When you dare to ring to find out why your medication is missing (again) you are treated like the lowest of the low. Not as an ill, vulnerable person who suffers constantly, but as a worthless sub-human who does not deserve proper medical care.

It is appalling that disabled people are treated this way. I would like people to know that Wendy, the "senior" receptionist has today informed me, that despite putting two prescriptions in, in plenty of time, and running out of a medication yesterday that you cannot just stop taking, that I am not a priority. I could tell you who is, but I'm pretty sure Google wouldn't let me.

If disabled people, in agonising pain and distress, are not a priority when it concerns such a simple job as signing a correct prescription, this is extremely concerning and it is no wonder the NHS is where it is today.

The only people worth speaking to are Dr Ellis-Williams and Dr Price, who are excellent GPs. It's a shame that the rest of the staff bring them down so much. The reviews say it all.

One star is generous. I had a referral and as Penygroes is my surgery I expected to hear some follow up. I haven't and I'm extremely frustrated. Disgusting approach to public health.

Never really had great experience with this surgery. This morning I was asked my problem then told there are no appointments, why ask me my problem? They don't seem to really care and often find better advice from holistic practitioners. Nothing worse than not having faith or trust in the people you call when things aren't right.

Terrible organisation. Very rude reception staff, to the point where they are aggressive. Most of the doctors are arrogant and useless at their jobs. They can't do simple things right and seem to hate people who are disabled.

Went in today and receptionist with short brown hair lied to my face and said there's no afternoon emergency appointments when I know there are for a fact as I've been to one! The other receptionist- large, glasses and long dark hair backed her up. How can you argue with that? The receptionists in general are rude and behave above their station. Thanks to their unhelpful attitude I have had a week of worry and stress

Phoned the surgery last Friday for the third time after initially being diagnosed with tinitis over the phone given medication for that I'd rung up a couple of times to say my hearing getting worse and I didn't feel right for the receptionist to ring me back saying the doctor didn't class me as an emergency . By Monday I had an aneurysm which required major brain surgery and I'm currently recovering in Cardiff hospital in the neroscience ward

Tried calling from 8am could not get through finally 8.36am got through to be told it's too late fully booked until tomorrow. This isn't right and should be looked at no wonder the hospitals are overwhelmed.

Over 400 calls this morning trying to get hold of a doctor. Started to phone at 7:58 line permanently engaged. Sorry but this is not good enough.

Quite simply this practice is unfit for purpose, I can get a Veterinary on the farm with in hours, but can't get this Doctor's office to answer the phone and making an appointment is farcical.
