Staff are always ready to help. Great being able to see my GP and pick up prescriptions on site. I visit regularly and am always happy with the friendly proffessional care I receive.

Only complaint would be poor lighting in the precinct but i doubt the surgery is responsible for that!

I have always received excellent support and care, everyone whom I have seen or spoken to have been kind and I have always received treatment and referrals in a timely manner. I have been with this practice for about 40 years

This review is 5* only really for nurse Bev!
Thank you for being so reassuring, calming, bubbly and smiley!! It was a pleasure visiting this morning!
Overall the practice is okay.. getting in fast is tricky but as an NHS worker myself, I understand how overwhelmed the health service is.

Having moved here from the south where you have to know a month in advance that you will be in need of an appointment, I have found this medical centre nothing but amazing. I was diagnosed with a serious illness shortly after moving here and the all of the staff have been so helpful and accommodating.

Difficult is how I'd describe this surgery and 70% of the Staff. From booking appointments to ordering repeat prescriptions for children and adults under the care of specialists. My family of 5 are moving to the Doctors surgery Littlewick next door as have lots of people recently due to the difficulties they have had at West Hallam Medical Centre.

I have no idea how one of the receptionists still has her job? She gives out medical advice for a start which is totally unethical and unprofessional! Second of all she is rude and has no patience, speaks over you, rude, abrupt.. if you’re going to work as a receptionist at a GP, at least show some empathy? If you’re really that annoyed by your job and everyone who calls, please do us all a favour and leave as you’re literally affecting peoples lives. Me and everyone else I know avoids contacting this GP because of the 1 receptionist who works there. If a health condition remains undiagnosed because of this … I dread to think the amount of people who have probably suffered or gone on to develop serious health conditions!!

I find the doctors at this surgery dismissive, arrogant and only able to cope with routine illnesses. Its true that GP's are 'General Practitioners' and have no particular specialisms, however, this should surely mean they should work together with their patients, rather than assuming that they know best and inflicting their ill-educated views on those patients who have experienced their conditions for many years. For your own peace of mind, I wouldn't recommend this surgery to anyone with long term complicated illnesses, or for those expecting their view to be listened to and taken into consideration.

Used to be a great doctors until new management took over.

I had to end up paying around £400 to go private to get a straight forward referral.

The doctor at the Nuffield looked through my file and said Dr Burns could not of messed this up any more if they tried.

They are very good when it comes to keeping on top of routine annual checks. But what about a serious condition like cancer? In December 2021 my husband telephoned them to report rectal bleeding. Three weeks later he received a phone call from a person who wasn't a doctor. He was told to 'see how it goes '. Weeks later he rang again. Again he was telephoned by a 'non doctor.'.
They said he wouldn't be seen for an examination because IF the bleeding was due to internal piles that would only make the bleeding worse. This went on throughout 2022. He was prescribed suppositories and folic acid. Eventually he was referred for a colonoscopy which took place 28th September 2022. This revealed a malignant tumour. Had it been detected sooner whilst localised to the colon it could have removed with no further treatment (as advised by our consultant.)
The cancer is now advanced at stage 4 being in the lymph nodes and the liver. We are in a living hell of worsening symptoms and diminishing hope. We have only just been referred to oncology on 15th December 2022 having waited what seems an eternity for scans and appts. The earliest appt for oncology is 16th Jan 2023. And treatment WON'T START THEN. We've not received one phone call from west hallam medical centre since the colonoscopy. They are very caring indeed! We have now registered with a new doctor who telephoned us within a week to inquire how we are coping and how she can help us.
We've tried to stay positive but the delays for treatment due to NHS workload and the knowledge that this cancer may now be rendered inoperable and terminal is hard8 to bear.

This medical centre told me that it's down to the clinician who gets a face to face appointment with a doctor, and that such appointments were resumed in Jan 2022. They can't use COVID on this one.
We are bombarded with advice not to ignore bleeding and other signs of cancer, go to your GP! Early detection and treatment is crucial.
Thank you, West hallam medical centre.
Beverley and Michael Webb.

Wish I could give it zero stars. Absolute disgrace of a medical centre.

Receptionists are rude, unhelpful and lack any emotion or empathy.

You can never see a Dr and rarely get an appointment. Even when you do they cant figure out what is wrong with you because they don't listen and don't care. They also like to lie on your medical records.

For your safety and sanity don't register here.

Blame falls on the receptionists, yet they’re just doing what they’re told by the doctors and the practice manager. I called on behalf of an elderly relative. Trying to see a doctor is a definite thing of the past, we’re no longer humans, we’re just an extension of our phones and should have a chip installed that tells the doctor everything without ever speaking or interacting ever!!! If I get told again to call back tomorrow at 8am for a same day telephone appointment, I think I’ll set up my own pre-recorded brain function to do just that! Maybe I’ll tell my relative to make sure their illness appears at 7:30am for the doctors convenience. What a lot of stupid telephone calls for nothing. Awful service.
Sympathy for the receptionists.

Unable to send prescriptions to any other pharmacy apart from Evans pharmacy in West Hallam which has caused me endless problems. They seem to be one the few medical practices that in the country that are unable to do this.
