Just enjoyed a breakfast here it was lovely, I had a veggie one and my wife had the traditional one, very tasty. Nice and cosy inside and the lighting and decor was nice. Cakes looked delicious but didn't try one today! The only one negative for me was the cup of tea I had, I don't think it was made with filtered water as it had a bit of an aftertaste of unfiltered water and I do like my tea to be spot on but apart from that everything else was great. Friendly staff and great service, nice view from upstairs too.

Best Café in the town!

1st visit we had the pepperoni pizza & sweet chilli chicken toasted wraps with sweet potato fries (best item on menu), then a couple of lovely cakes.

2nd visit with a larger group we had steak pie, cheese and onion pie, creamy mushrooms on toast and the BBQ pulled pork bun. All great and highly recommend those too.

Extremely reasonable prices (£6-10) and a great selection of very nice quality food!

Also offer a large selection of takeaway items too (image below).

We visited this café on 09-Nov and again on 12-Nov. Excellent service, both times, delightful food and the best seat in the house, both visits, with a wonderful view of Sgwar Alban

We cannot recommend McGowans enough and we look forward to another visit next time we are in, Aberaeron.

We drove through Aberaeron the other day and decided to stop here as it’s a genuinely pretty little town (visit and see).
After wandering around we decided to stop for a drink. We were also tempted with cake.
The staff here were really friendly and welcoming. When my son was choosing what he wanted, a hot chocolate, the lady serving jumped in and told him about all the different choices he could have. Ignored me and spoke directly with him. I like this. He was advised to have a bueno hot chocolate (pictured) and he loved it. My mocha was ace and the wife’s cappuccino was good too. Cake was good, as it should be!
The venue is really nice too. Seating upstate and we were allowed to bring the dog in too. Lots of nostalgic local pictures.
But as mentioned earlier, the staff were really friendly, chatting with the customers and making everyone welcome. Great place. Thank you.

Food amazing. I had a breakfast wrap which was really tasty, my hubby had the breakfast which he throughly enjoyed. They cater for dietary needs. Staff were very friendly & helpful.

This is a lovely cafe, with beautiful food, cakes and goodies. Vegan options are also available. The staff are very friendly and welcoming, and the location is perfect for a meal or coffee stop whilst exploring Aberaeron. Very highly recommended indeed.

We visited McCowans for lunch today. The food was delicious, I had the potato & cheese pie & my wife had the mediterranean quiche, together with a pot of tea which was the nicest tea we've had in a long time.

We would highly recommend calling here for food if you're visiting the area.

This establishment really cannot be faulted. Wonderful food, wonderful atmosphere and wonderful people . Recommended to us by a local lady who frequents this cafe on a regular basis and as she has mobility issues they are extremely helpful ,. Very impressed

Spicy Veg Wrap, oh my life!!! Very tasty, freshly cooked. An absolute must when in Aberaeon. (Sorry didn’t think about a photo till I finished 🤷🏻‍♂).

Great for coffee and it has the best cakes for miles. Have also enjoyed the light lunches, especially the quiche. Friendly Welsh speaking staff, lovely atmosphere and always busy... this place is a real gem.

Called in on our way home after spotting the store which looked inviting with a little outside seating area under the cover of a canopy. Reminded me of a little French cafe. I had a Turkey, stuffing and Cranberry wrap with a Mocha which definitely hit the spot! The cakes looked delicious and fresh but I resisted the temptation sadly. The staff were really friendly. Whilst waiting I noticed that it was very popular with the locals and quite a few people had ordered afternoon teas to collect. Definitely worth a (longer) visit next time.

First time visitors to McCowans and what a delight. A busy Saturday but we managed to get a table. Staff were lovely, helpful, patient and personable.
The menu choice was extensive - plenty for a vegetarian (myself) which is good to see.
Food was presented well and very tasty. The cakes and pastry selection was a wonder to behold - all very yummy. A great experience and I highly recommend.

First time we visited the town McCowans was shut. Glad we came back when it was open. Had the cheese & potato pie, with baked beans, for lunch. It was delicious.
