Have been to the One Elm Pub, Stratford-upon-Avon today, The landlord Nick and his staff made us feel really welcome "thanks Nick" the meal we had was A+++ absolutely beautiful, steak was cooked to perfection and the Sticky toffee pudding was delicious. Would recommend this pub, good food and great staff.

I always thought the UK's greatest pub's were hidden in the grassy plains of Scotland but no, this beautiful pub reminds me of why England is also in the run for the greatest pub country in the world. Twas an evening of calm between the scorching heat of the English sun and a giant storm named Seamus. I took my soon to be fiancée to this pub. She vowed to never marry again after a heart breaking divorce. Three times I had failed." Never again,"I swore to myself. The quiet green fields beside the pub had spooked me. But as I entered I found myself in a warm atmosphere among the men and women of the local area. We ordered two sirloin steak glazed with rose infused honey. The waiter graced us with a good bit of comedy which kept us happy for the small waiting time. The steak was fantastic. A creme brulé for dessert. Magnificent. We thanked all involved in making the night so special. As I walked out into the cold night I almost forgot about my plan of proposal. I got onto one knee. She walked past unaware of me shakily waiting for her acknowledgement. Eventually she realised I had stopped. She turned to see a diamond ring glistening in the moon's light. Tears fell from her face. "Will you??" I asked desperately. I embraced her as she cried into my shoulder. It was all I needed. My smile had grown from cheek to cheek. Just to confirm, she whispered yes softly into my ears, as any more would result in a flood of tears. I wouldn't have been able to propose successfully if it weren't for the magic of the pub. 15 years of happy marriage would not be possible without it. Thank you peach pub co

Such a shame , we have eaten at The Fishes many times over the years, but our experience yesterday was appalling. We ate outside which seemed to be the problem. No one took our order we had to go to the bar, and had to pay up front for both food and drinks, didn't ask for a card to run up a tab. No one came out to see if we wanted anything further, nor was the table cleared. We have eaten and drunk outside at The Fleece and have always had a lovely time there.
I presume all this comes under the Manager's discretion.
