Cafe on the Barge

Charming discovery on the edge of Bath. Efficient set up ordering coffee thru the barge window. Likely a fave with locals, dog walkers, cyclists, runners et al. Very efficient & freindly service. Been going for 14 years - well done! Nice coffee 👍🏻

Perfect sized delicious cakes! They have benches and space along the towpath for seating and sell all-sorts from iced coffee and diet coke to lattes, cakes and Marshfield ice-cream. There is on street parking next to the local primary school and some wonderful walks along the towpath either into Bath or towards Dundas aquaduct.
(P.s. my other half ate all but a bite of the cake before I could get a photo - they're definitely bigger than that!)

Take a walk, or cycle, along the Kennett & Avon canal from Bath and when you reach Bathampton you can reward yourself with something from the Cafe on the Barge. A great selection of drinks, hot & cold, lovely cakes, or ice cream - vegan options included. Definitely worth the walk/cycle.

Loved it! Found this cosy gem by chance. Very local vibe and lovely coffee. Staff are super lovely and chatty. Will be heading back every week as there are great walks nearby. It is a small place so seats inside are limited but you can sit on the benches outside or on the exterior of the boat. Grab a blanket and relax.

A lovely coffee and we had three very tasty cakes (millionaire's shortbread, ginger cake and flapjack). Highly recommended.

First place we stopped for a sit down at on a canal boat weekend. The place smelt amazing when we walked in - tea cakes toasting. Great cappuccino. The food all looked lovely. It was a cold day & so we were given blankets by the lovely lady who ran the place, to keep us warm. Really well worth a visit!

This delightful Café on the Barge, is literally what it says on the tin, and you go inside and order and pay for tea and the delicious home made cake is not to be missed - there are 2 small tables on the outside and more tables on the grass just outside.

Great atmosphere, friendly and delightful staff and reasonable prices too.

I have been passed this place on several occasions and decided today that I would use it and I was not to be disappointed.

If you get the chance then use it, and if the weather is nice then it is even more delightful

Lovely friendly service, alternative milk available for those with tolerances. Not surprised it's so popular! Beautiful scenery and lovely walk along the canal in both directions! Card payments accepted too.

Lovely place for a coffee / snack / ice cream. We walked along Kennet and Avon canal, and suddenly found this delightful place. It's run by a friendly lady.

If you are looking for something different in a truly beautiful setting this canal boat cafe is for you. Situated on the Kennet and Avon canal, at Bathampton literally moored next to the towpath. Amazing home made cakes and paninis, great variety of coffee, tea, and cold drinks. Tables inside and out so plenty of room, service second to none, by the owner and staff. Warm welcome and friendly smile always garenteed.

Lovely river boat serving coffee and snacks, run by delightful people. The walk along the canal from Bath is delightful, made all the nicer by our stop at Cafe on the Barge.
