A good bed, so we slept well and a great landlord and chef for food. What more could you want?
Early morning deliveries to the coffee shop opposite a bit noisy but turned over and went back to sleep!
Would stay again.

Just went for a bar lunch, a pensioners meal.
Best lunch I have tasted for a long time. I ordered roast of the day ,with all the trippings plus a fruit crumble with custard.
Delicious, I tasted like how my school dinners were back in the day. Remember when food was real food.
The staff were lovely place was clean, beer was refreshing, and my meal, value for money.

Fantastic experience here!! Trio of Cumberland Sausages was delicious and Michelle was very accommodating with our dietary needs. Service from Ben behind the bar and serving the food was brilliant; a highlight of our trip to Clitheroe. Thanks for everything guys!

We were having a short break in Clitheroe and stopped in the Swan and Royal for a meal. The Food and service were excellent and the pub although quiet was welcoming and friendly, would definitely return if in the area.

Had an early 3 course Christmas meal for 12 people yesterday and it was excellent. The food was lovely and the service was perfect all for under £20.

Me and a old pal stayed the night after a night on the beer.

Traditional Lancashire greeting from the friendly staff with a seamless check in.

Room was marvellous, huge, clean and all the facilities you needed. Staff on the bar were very accomodating when we needed cutlery.

The location is unrivalled, the room faultless and the price a bargain. What's not to like?

Well done folks.

Very friendly hard working staff. Relaxing Homely atmosphere right in the centre of Clitheroe. We called here for dinner on recommendation from caravan site wardens. There's a good choice of food and drinks at a reasonable price. Caron had tuna baguette with chips, I had fish chips and peas. Food made to order and all was lovely, with a coke for Caron and a pint of Guinness for me made for a real dinner time treat. 100% recommend The Swan and Royal if you're visiting Clitheroe.

Lovely place. Popped in at 2 they stop doing lunch at 2 but they were great and gave us a lovely tasty meal. We were starving after a long walk in the area. The food was just amazing! Would recommend.

Was looking for somewhere nice to have lunch after visiting the castle and this old coaching inn on the high street met all my expectations! It's ideally located close to the castle, market and shops. A very traditional pub with lots of atmosphere, an impressive history and a tragic ghost story. The bar lounge is cosy and comfortable with period decor. Clean downstairs toilet. Very welcoming and friendly staff. Was impressed with the extensive lunch menu, better than the average pub food with a good choice of sandwiches, salads and homemade cooked meals. There was also a two-course pensioner's special for just £8.95. Had the homemade chicken and mushroom pot with chunky chips, cabbage and carrots. It was well cooked and piping hot. The puff pastry was nice and light and the big chunks of chicken were really tender. Generous portions too. Was too full for a dessert but the choice was tempting! Both the meal and the glass of wine were very reasonably priced. A great place to have lunch, would definitely recommend!

A really lovely place to eat. We stopped by today after shopping in town and seeing the hotel's advert outside for their special menu which was extremely well priced. The lady behind the bar was charming, friendly and made us feel very welcome. The food was really great and we were served very generous portions and enjoyed our meal and the atmosphere. We will definitely return. The service, the food and the price was 5 STAR

3 of us decided to pop in as we were passing, and enjoyed a great pint of ale...then spotted a Sunday roast menu. 2 courses for £9,95. Decided to order, and it was delicious! Well worth a visit 👍
