Superb ales in a 'Proper' traditional pub just round the corner from the railway station. Decor is superb!
Can't comment on rooms as I didn't stay, but if rooms reflect pub then top marks!

Immaculate. Cleanest pub ever visited. Brass work gleams, table tops spotless, glass polished, toilets looked after (not an afterthought like some). Excellent range of well cared for beers including my favourite, draft Bass (always on tap). Located near railway stations and bus stops (displays train arrivals and departures on a screen in the bar). Taken me a while but glad to have found this gem.

Popped in for a drink with the better looking one before we had dinner. Great place and the lady in charge runs a tight ship. Super...

We had an absolute blast staying at the Swan and Railway! In from the United States and it was an ideal place to stay for enjoying Wigan as well as travel in and out. Room was fantastic! Service was even better! Proper pub, will absolutely stay here on my returns to Wigan, and at minimum will be back for pints!

Great pub, great staff, great beer. Really enjoyed our afternoon visit here. Very relaxing and enjoyable drink of well kept Bank Top Port O' Call. Sat in a room with an open fire. Nice and cosy.

A classic pub serving a great collection of cask ales. So handy to wait for your 🚂 here rather than on a wind swept platform.

Great historic old pub with excellent ales and basic good quality food at sensible prices.

It is very easy to overlook this public house, but that would be a mistake. The oriel windows on the first floor give a clue as to the period of the architecture, but once you cross the threshold you are transported to another world, One of victorian splendor and the highest quality workmanship. A print of Manet's bar at the folie bergere hangs on the wall which adds to the general mood of the place. Run by a rather formidable lady with a heart of gold.

This pub/hotel is better than year's ago. New owners have totally refurbished this historic pub to a high standard & brought it back to life. Lovely friendly staff. Great beer garden. One of the best pubs in Wigan. Dog friendly so that's a 5 star from me.

Great real ale pub opposite Wigan North Western train station. Camra vouchers are taken at the bar. Sports photos adorn the walls. Multiple choice of real ales available. Check the "real ale finder app" as the pub updates it's ale range often!! Visited many times and will continue to do so. The bar staff are friendly and knowledgeable and are good company!

what an absolute gem of a pub this is, one of my favourite in wigan by far. Situated right next to the train station it is a perfect place to nip for a pint whilst waiting for the train. it has so many ales to choose from and it retains that old style pub feeling which so many lack these days. its got multiple different rooms that you can choose to sit inside.

Great hidden gem of a town centre pub. Good selection of beer and friendly staff.

We came for a drink after a walk. It's in a great location and right next to the train station.
