Canal Tavern

Just stopped for a pint and some warm(!) Pork scratchings. Lovely location by the canal. Great for walk start or finish food and proper pub feel inside.

Excellent, tasty food, generous portions. Lots of different seating areas to choose from, quirky decor. Reasonably priced, well worth a visit.

Lovely friendly staff. We had 2 roast beef lunches, very tasty and very filling! Great spot to eat, next to the canal. Would recommend.

Lively little pub next to the canal. Food was excellent, and the gentleman working the bar/kitchen was very friendly and welcoming.

We had a lovely lunch here as a party of four. Despite also trying to juggle the demands of a hen party, staff were really attentive, friendly and quick. The barman was really lovely when taking the food order for my friend, who for various health reasons can’t eat this or that. We really enjoyed our lunch here and would certainly come again.

Isaac was a brilliant host, very accommodating. I turned up after what I’m sure was a long shift for him and he still managed to get a smile out of me. Slight delay on the menu, still only serving the breakfast menu at 13 15. But happy friendly staff that asked the chef to serve some chips, which were very nice and plenty of them. 1 negative is only 2 staff on a very busy afternoon and 1 wasn't able to serve alcohol as too young.

Food was a little slow but worth the wait. It was a particularly busy day, so in all fairness, they did well. Front of house needs a bit more organisation but overall a very nice breakfast

I had the Buffalo Wings, they were great! Just mildly spicy and very juicy. My girlfriend had a Ham Sandwich, which was also great

Staff very welcoming, service excellent. We had the Sunday roast value for money, decent sized portions, lovely fresh vegetables and the meat was of great quality. Good selection of beers and in a lovely location, will definitely be returning if in the area.

Took my son for lunch on Sunday, which was his 11th birthday. Our waitress was fantastic. I didn't get her name but she was tall with red/purple hair. The food was great and my son got exactly what he ordered as he didn't want everything that was listed on the menu for his dish. I had a lovely roast which arrived quickly. Very impressed

Helped by glorious sunshine we sat out and had a delicious light lunch. Service was excellent!

We visited the canal tavern last weekend for the first time. It is a beautiful pub and the food was so lovely, we had a roast each and my fussy 6 year old had a kids meal which she also loved. The staff were lovely and the walk after the food was beautiful. Hope to be back again soon 😃

Pleasantly suprised!
In all honesty the decor isn't the most inviting however the other half was searching for a fry up this place served up until 4pm (which he was delighted about) so we went in. Ordering was easy and simple staff were lovely. The breakfast was tasty the sausages especially! I opted for the vegetarian burger which was really good! I've found it difficult to find a decent tasting veggie option when eating out but this hit the spot! The only negative thing I can say is that I had no room for dessert!😁
