Just the most magical find! My jaw was wide open as I stepped in, and it was the perfect place for a book lover - or not - just to enjoy the stunning building. A total celebration of books, and it has been curated to a very high standard. The staff were super helpful and friendly (even after I managed to knock down a cascade of books! 🙈) and also provide a beautiful wrapping at an additional fee. I then found there was a whole downstairs, so will have to come back and explore properly when I have more time. A destination in itself.

I once heard the late Terry Pratchett describe this as his favourite bookstore in the country and I can see why! Full of fascinating nooks and corners, little side rooms, winding staircases — and shelf ladders! I could easily have spent hours in here exploring, but with two small book readers in tow, had to content myself with half an hour. But I’ll be back. If only it had an orangutan on the staff my joy would have been complete. Highly recommended!

A must go for any book lovers!

Possibly the most amazing bookshop I’ve been in. A huge choice of books all presented in a wonderful way that just invites you to spend time here. Lots of rooms to discover, an upstairs and downstairs area and plenty of seating.

This cosy bookshop was a dream. The books are arranged beautifully and staff are warm. They also provide you with complimentary tea as you browse for your next read. A really lovely place that beats any waterstones!

My favourite bookshop! ♥ The staff are fantastic, always offering recommendations, help and a cup of tea. I cannot enter without buying at least one new book, usually a signed hardback. This time I came in for a new release book talk. Simply fabulous place.

Topping and Company Booksellers Bookstore is a huge bookstore in Bath with a big variety of books. I loved the ladders that they put for the high shells and the little notes that help you find exactly what you are looking for. Also, they made a stand with books related to Palestine and Israel.
People that work there are very helpful. I totally recommend it.

Absolutely my favourite bookshop of all time. The staff are incredibly friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.

There's so much stock but everything is easy to find and laid out nicely.

Perfect bookshop in historic building in the centre of town. Drink tea and browse, or just browse and marvel at the wonderful skylights, mezzanine and general ambience. Huge selection of books brilliantly presented.

The best bookshop I’ve found so far! So many options and in a very beautiful building. The staff are really friendly and the atmosphere is wonderful. What I love most is how many signed and first editions you can find.

I've visited the shop and have also been to one of the many talks that occur there, usually given by authors & celebrities. I went to see Charles Spencer talking about abuse that occured during his school days. He was selling a book. The place was packed. He seemed like a pleasant chap who had a nice way of getting this bad part of his life over to us. I did suggest to Toppings that the speakers should be up on a platform, not just sitting in a high chair, so they would be easier for all of us to see them. I'll probably be going to see another talk soon. J.W.

Amazing staff, environment and basically absolutely 💯 fantastic service. I can't recommend it enough (I have had a similar post on my airbnb listing and I was jumping with happiness). Good service should be shouted out loud and wide. Topping staff in Bath were a 5 star service. I went with my dog and they looked after me so well. A book lover's haven with amazing selections in a wide range of subjects! I was impressed with the many beautifully bound books in the classics section which are rare finds in other commercial bookstores.
The sliding ladders to reach the high shelves are a nice touch as well! 10/10 would recommend for anyone looking to shop for books and souvenirs during their visit in Bath.

Love it! It is like stepping back in time. It has an atmosphere that makes you want to read! A great selection of books and lots of nooks to explore. There is comfortable seating if you want to browse through the books before buying. Love this place.

Three stories of superb quality! Came through here whilst visiting Bath, what a perfect place for purchasing any reading goods. A wide variety of fiction & non-fiction novels with plenty of genres. I was mainly in the market for some books on filmmaking (which mainly comprised of screenplay’s). Regardless, it’s a cosy place to browse and enjoy the space. It was quite busy at the time when we visited though it was during Easter holidays. Almost competing with Forbidden Planet, there was a large selection on graphic novels and manga - one of the best I’ve seen. It’s very central, a short walk from Bath Spa railway station.

A shelve system that allows customers to climb 8ft ladders to serve for their chosen books. There were some toilets downstairs for customers to use located underneath the stairs. Each member of staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about each product and question - they’re always patient and take the time to help you. This has got to be one of the best bookshops I have ever been to! 📚

Book lovers beware! You will spend a lot of money here, but will leave with lots of unique books.

A welcome change to the cookie cutter bookshops that are on every high street. Three levels of books in a beautiful listed building with specialist areas tucked away in rooms that make you want to explore.

Lots of special and signed editions available make this a great place to find a gift for the bibliophile in your life.

I love this bookshop. It is a huge place, with a phenomenal range of books, but it still manages to retain a cosy independent bookshop vibe. The staff are friendly and helpful and there are tables and chairs so you can have a read to see if a book is for you. I don't live anywhere near here but I have been twice now and I will definitely be going again.

Such a beautiful shop! I could have spent all day in there. The lady that helped me check out offered me a cup of tea but we were on our way out. If I'm ever back in Bath, I will be dedicating a day here and will be taking up that offer! Can't think of a better way to spend the afternoon.

Outstanding bookshop! Such lovely, helpful staff. I wish I had a bookshop like this back home in London.
