Pension Everlasting

We were looking for a restaurant which had nice tibs. Someone recommended Everlasting pension. We had the pleasure to meet the owner/cook/host Mickey. A very relaxed and well organised person. After explaining in English what we would like to eat, Mickey showed us around in his kitchen and started cooking the most amazing meal for us.
The pension is a little hard to find so please ask around!

Super clean, roomy rooms, very cheap, good firm mattress, hot water.

Very clean, quiet and simple rooms. I recommend it. The ladies in charge of the cleaning and cooking are doing an excellent job. I only give 3 stars because I suspect the manager is far from distributing the profits to the employees in a fair way (sadly, something too common in Ethiopia). The manager also organized a 3-days trips to the mountains. I doubt he gave much to the guide and the scout, who did most of the job (even though the guide did not know much english...). Please, let him know he must pay well the employees! Despite that, it is true he is quite fun.

A big > Stay away !! <

This den is absolutely run down with poky, dirty rooms, defect lighting and shower. Nevertheless, the manager charges prices doubling the rates of the larger hotels on site. They come as 'special price'. So you can't safe money there accepting the discomfort.
Also the location at a narrow, unlighted lane without pavement and any facility outside town is awkward.
I stranded there being sent from the 'Semien-Mountains-mafia' at Gonder.
They all take exorbitant provisions (50% and more) and lie with a smiling face.
The next day I moved to one of the city hotels. The staff there can do much more for you at a much better price and quality.

I have to catch up this review after 2 years staying there for being unable to reach Google Maps from site due to censorship measurements of Ethio Telekom mobile services. Instead I published a TripAdvisor review then. Hope, this may help.

This place is overpriced and the owner is a cheater. You might think he's a friendly guy, but that's just part of the tourist rip off. I was very disappointed because we lost much money there only to be angry with ourselves afterwards. Not only the rooms are very expensive (normally you pay half the price for rooms like this in ethiopia), they are also only interested in their profit.
We paid a tourist price for a day tour (he also refused to give us back our change, 10 €) which tourned out to be no trekking tour at all. We just drove around a bit in a tuktuk and he showed us uninteresting places nearby while talking in his phone all the time! It was just a waste of time and money and we felt like idiots. If you don't want to feel like this, don't go there!
The Simien Mountain Tours are very expensive in general, it's all a tourist rip off. It's cheapest to organise it at the headquater by youself but it's still expensive. Only for a car pick up they want you to pay 3200 Birr (which is for us much money as we are backpackers and still students). It's right if tourists are paying more than lokals but not like this! We where travelling through ethiopia for 6 month an I wish we wouldn't have come to debark and especially not to the pension everlasting.

I come in and I looked around. Less than 1 minute later I ran away.
No further comment!
