Sona Hotel

Considerato che a Debarq non c'è una grande offerta di hotel economici, qui ci siamo trovati bene, con un costo contenuto. Nel complesso le 5 camere che abbiamo prenotato erano pulite e con la doccia calda e il personale è stato gentile e disponibile.

After one week in Ethiopia at last a simple but clean room and private bathroom and fresh smelling bedding and towels. Good restaurant. The manager does his utmost to make your stay comfortable.

A beautiful place, its quiet and not much people come making it the perfect place if you want to spend a quality time with a person, or if you would like.But might not be as quiet during holidays and at night. Also people admire there coffee

Da es in Debark keine guten Hotels gibt, ist das Sona Hotel das beste am Platz. Alles sehr sauber, Personal freundlich, je nach Buchungslage gibt es abends Buffet. Das Essen ist gut. Die Sanitäranlagen sind oft einfach, wie in vielen Hotels in Äthiopien.

In terms of room, it was OK. Unfortunately, again, when we were there, spotty grid electricity and no water (Jan 31,2019) The hotel did try their best with generator and stored water in tower, but then no hot shower.
Prices are too high, they originally asked 30$/40$ for sgl/dbl. we bargain haggle them down to 20/30$.
Buffet dinner was 200br. but better off going to four sisters.

Stopped here to pick up food and grab some tea and coffee - the coffee was good the food was fantastic. The locals have a keen eye for travelers so they will ask you a lot for money. Stay close to your guides if you are uncomfortable saying no to lots of people.

We booked two rooms. A big triple room with decent beds, and a double one not so clean.
Poor illumination. Dinner there was fine (a la carte) but clearly breakfast has to improve. Poor and scarce offer.

There is as of yet no alternative available in Debark. The only positive things about the hotel are the garden/terrace and the bed itself. Some of the bad points: missing lights, cold water, badly closing windows, noise and cramped rooms. The restaurant is also bad.

Apparently the best in town..but not good. Overpriced food and drinks, and 1 pal got sick after the lamb. Very basic rooms, broken windows etc, and noisy as hell, too.

If you have an option, check it. And I believe you will be back in Sona. Actually city has no mauch of them. Owner do his best but unfortunately not really very succesfully.
