Casa Lucas Reviews

You will find this cozy spot among several tapas joints and bars. The unassuming exterior gives way to a warm and laid-back atmosphere inside. The wine selection is great and the food is simply delightful—portions are surprisingly generous. The service? Top-notch. If you're up for a chill vibe and traditional Spanish tapas, this place is highly recommended.

Casa Lucas is an excellent Spanish restaurant on Cava Baja. They serve elevated tapas with creative takes on traditional classics. The arroz cremoso is a divine dish. All of the ingredients are fresh, service is simple olive and attentive and the wine list is great. Be sure to reserve a table. It is small and it gets packed, but it is a great option for lunch or dinner with groups of 2-5.

Nice restaurant with good vibes. It’s not posh but feels great with nice interior.
Welcome is warm and even though we had not reservations they managed an area for us.
Menu offers list of tapas and dishes which changed often. It’s definitely prepared with good products.
Quite enjoy the croquetas with mushrooms and black pudding tapas.

Great spot for sharing tapas and having a good glass of wine. The place is small but always crowded. Sit at the bar if you can, the barman are super nice and will recommend you wine and what to eat. A true little gem in a beautiful neighborhood

We came here with our food blogger friend who highly recommended this restaurant. Our favorite dishes were the fried cuttlefish with black ink, croquetas and the mushroom rice with foie! It doesn’t have a lot of seating so definitely make reservations.

Quality. We got there at 8, as we needed a table for 5. Clever little qr code for English menu, and then came the food! Top quality and really tasty, the black pudding was amazing! We also were drinking some alternative to Sangria(?) but missed the name, it was also really nice. 100€ for 5 which seems pretty good for me for that level of food. Friendly competent staff. Terrible photo of the black pudding, but there you are 😀

We came here after seeing a few recs for it and we’re so happy we did! It was our first tapas of the trip. We sat at the bar and the bartender was very friendly helping us order wine we’d like and with the food I had read about but couldn’t remember the name! Everything was delicious. They prepare the calamari with squid ink in front of you.

The squid here is the best I've ever had. Bar none. The most transcendent dish I had during my time in Madrid.

Amazing place with some of the finest food I've had in Spain! I got the cabo (?) Some sort of bubbly wine. And calamari in their ink. It was delicious, timely, and well portioned. The atmosphere was nice as I sat at the bar. The waiters were friendly and provided tapas with the drinks. Supposedly their menu had not changed since it opened... Not sure if this is true but it would make sense seeing how good it was.

Had dinner tonight there and the food was absolutely delicious.
There was only 2 waiter and the restaurant was fully packed but the service was incredible and the food didn’t take long to be served even if the restaurant was full.
I really enjoyed spending time there and if you are looking to a place to eat tapas this will be a great place.

My husband and I have been coming here every year for the last 4 years, sometimes 2-3 times during our time in Madrid. The rabo de toro is the single best meal I always have on our trip. It tastes like home. It is simple yet complex at the same time. The little hints of cherries and pistachios just make my taste buds explode every time (in a good way😂). The meat just melts in your mouth and the puree feels like silk.
Other staples include the squid, the cariñena (solomillo on toast served on a bed of perfectly caramelized onions) and the croquettes which are also super creamy and tasty. Love their wine selection, especially their cava. The staff is always so kind and attentive. Can’t wait to visit again!! 💕

The Turkish eggs at Casa Lucas were the best I've ever had - paired with the babaganoush and a croissant, it was the best breakfast we had in spain. So delicious- can't believe they weren't busier.

This is a must eat in Madrid. Authentic local foods in great prices and QUALITY. We all enjoy all the food and drinks. Order their famous dishes and they really satisfy our taste buds. Don't come 4pm to 8pm. They close for break.

Great wine selection, and the food was fresh. We visited right after opening so it wasn’t very crowded.
Be aware, this street has many tapas bar and can be very crowded in the evening. I definitely would recommend.

The food was very interesting. They definitely put their own spin on Spanish food. The wine selection is pretty big and I'm a fan of being able to choose between several different wines by the glass and not be forced to buy a bottle if you want to drink something other than Rioja or Ribera. It's a small place, so make sure you get a reservation if you're coming on a weekend

This spot is really special. So delicious that I went twice! It’s family owned and run, the staff are friendly. As a solo traveler it can be intimidating in Madrid to head into a restaurant and not know where to sit/where to go but I had Casa Lucas on my list and wanted to try it—waited a few minutes and someone got up and left so I sat at the bar. Ordered red wine and the Rabo de Toro (oxtail) which was literally melt-in-your-mouth spectacular. 100% recommend, perfect intimate place for really great food and tapas

A delightfully small restaurant tucked in an alley near the Plaza Mayor.
We started with the croquetas mixtas and made our way to a bowl of Gazpacho, ending with the Huevos Macarena (poached eggs served with asparagus, bits of bacon, pork and mushrooms). Unexpectedly delicious! And the perfect amount of food for two people.
The menu had several diet-friendly options (GF, VG, V, etc). Not a concern for me personally but it seems like they def cater to patrons with specific dietary needs.
We also split a delicious bottle of Cava. The service was wonderful and we had a memorable experience.
