We visited Murcia Cathedral at the weekend, our first visit to the city. There is plenty of parking and the underground car park is about 5 minutes walk from the cathedral. The building is magnificent and is covered in wonderful medieval stonework. It is a mix of styles with the tower being a far newer eighteenth century baroque construction and the main building is fourteenth century gothic.
The interior is vast and has the usual mix of wonderful carvings with very gaudy decoration in red and gold. We didn't spend as long as we'd have liked inside as it was a Sunday and we didn't want to intrude but it is certainly somewhere we'll return to.

Very nice cathedral, probably the most interesting building to see.
The entrance is free. However, there are certain things that cost, such as the museum entrance.

It's well worth a visit. The cathedral is breathtakingly beautiful, stunning, and an experience you will never forget. I am going back to visit the cathedral again because one visit isn't enough. There is so much to see. You can't go to Murcia and not visit the Cathedral.

One of the oldest cathedrals in Spain, huge building in gothic style. Also recommend to buy tickets to the one of the towers to see the view and to enjoy the panorama.

Beautiful cathedral. Well worth visiting this huge building which is the centre piece of Murcia city. Stunning architecture. Inside there are several small chapels all the way round the walls. And a grand alter at the front. We had the pleasure of seeing a service the week before Easter. The building is awe inspiring.

The cathedral will engulf you in a world of its own! There's no way you won't appreciate the intricate historical architecture of the cathedral! The photo shown was taken with a black and white filter at exactly 9:00am! Make sure to enjoy the traditional cafe and little hut restaurants around here! ;)

What a lovely day spent in the city, lovely buildings and plenty of restaurants and bars to choose from. Tram is an excellent way to travel from one end of the city to the other, very reasonable. Well worth the visit.

Built between 1394-1465. The heart and the entrails of the king Alfonso X the Wise are buried under the main altar.
The bell tower stands 300+ feet tall - the tallest in Spain.
Look for the Chapel of the Apes (the Velez Chapel) - a great example of Flaming Gothic style.
On the outside there is a huge stone chain that runs along the chapel: I had only seen another example of this (although a belt rather than chain) in one of Portuguese convents.

Beautiful....Stunning architecture and wonderful history... My favourite, Santa Barbara of Lebanon / Patron Saint of Miners and Artillerymen.

Beautiful place and worth a visit. Service most nights and even watched a choir one afternoon. Only downfall at the cathedral and though out the Murcia tourist spots are the pretend beggars. Council needs to move them on. No tickets were required

Very beautiful indeed! The statues have intricate carving with immense detail. The side has several restaurants and the front has a large courtyard with more restaurants.

Amazing cathedral in Murcia.

It has been built in 1394. While the facade is in a baroque and gothic style, inside it is more of a renaissance style.

We had a peek inside the cathedral, and it was equally beautiful as outside.

On the square where the cathedral is located, for some reason you could find these enormous fake flowers which was a great scene!

One of the most attractive cathedras in Spain and a real gem of Murcia. Take time as you need around one hour to make an audio tour and it is well worth it. At certain times it is possible to make a tour of the church bell tower which offers spectacular views of th old part of the city.
