Holy Moly what delicious paella! This place at the end of the beach has one world renowned dish. Just order it and you won't regret it. It smelled wonderful, tasted great and the rice textures cooked just right. It's so good that we also ordered take aways for dinner. Best part is that take away container is pretty large so you'll get extras for the same price. Love it.

Right on the beach. Cash only. Multiple good and beverage items available, but they are known for their paella. They make huge pans full. Paella was good.

A MUST!!
Simple straightforward goodness.
This place is down to earth with simple traditional food in a beach bar setting that simply tastes incredible. A must visit.
Enjoy the flame made paella with prawns and chicken. Or any of their other seafood. The service is quick the food is great and the vibe is perfect for the beach. Pay it a visit and you won’t regret it

Ayo is a no-frills, bang-for-the-buck outdoor restaurant right on the beach, which makes it a must visit during any trip to Nerja. I first ate here over ten years ago when I was studying in Spain and give it another visit last week while on vacation. I was sad to learn that they discontinued their one-of-a-kind endless paella special, but their paella was just too good and memorable to pass on.

For just 9.5 euros, you get a hefty plate of amazingly seasoned and incredibly fresh paella, that is made right in one of the largest paella pans you've probably ever seen in your life. The paella comes with chicken, shrimp (gambas) and even a couple of scallops (vieiras) if you're lucky. Highly recommend you grab a plate with a nice cold Alhambra beer before hitting the ocean.

A tradition of every holiday in Nerja is to come and watch (and then eat!) The paella at this fantastic restaurant in Burriana beach. They have been doing the same things since I was young and why bother changing when it is so amazing. The paella is cooked on a humongous paella pan at the front, luring in all that smell and see its wonder. Very reasonably priced and has a great range of salads, fried fish, Spanish omelette and other delicacies for all to find something tasty. The setting is marvellous and it won't let you down. Make it part of your tradition to touch down and head straight for Ayos when you arrive in Nerja!

Open during the daytime only. It’s a great experience with excellent food and a very busy atmosphere by the beach. Decent value and quick service - Paella is a must. A long queue forms so go early if you want to avoid it.

Fresh paella, I just would like to have the sea food paella solo instead of only having the one with chicken, but I think this is the tradition there, it’s delicious and the price very reasonable for the quality and location, expect lines on summer, the beach It’s gorgeous what makes the experience even better.

We took a nice long walk along from the Balcon De Europa to Burriana beach. stopped at restaurant Ayo where they were cooking giant pealla outside. Very pooular with a big and basic seating area, very tasty and traditional paella with chicken and prawns. Definitely with a visit.

Come for the stunning paella, stay for all the other fabulous stuff on the menu. These guys can really cook. If you’re coming for lunch err on the early side, after 1pm you’ll have to queue in the heat. Still worth it mind.

Best Paella in Andalucía!! €7.5 and you can go back for more as much as you like. Freshly cooked in front of your eyes means its not gluggy! Good seafood, coffee could be better. Freindly staff.

Great atmosphere and good service. Giant portion sizes and great value for money.
The Paella was delicious, though not what you would expect of 'traditonal paella', it was still very tasty.
Staff were very friendly.
Very much worth a visit for the experience.
Dogs are welcome.

Good location and delicious paella which you can have another plate as free. We visited here after SUP tour. It’s popular place, so once you find a table available, take it!

Ask them what's local and order based on that. Paella was excellent (and fun to watch cook!). Overall, it's pretty busy, so don't hesitate to embrace the structured chaos.

What a great experience!! Easy walk from the bus stop (arrived from Malaga) and worth it to get away from the crowds near the Balcon de Europa.

We arrived on a Saturday at about 2. No problem getting a table but it did start to fill up fast.

We were waited on immediately by the nicest, funny, best personality gentleman ever! How does he stay so happy when it's so busy here?!

Ordered a beer and a tinto verano and it came right away. We ordered the house salad and two orders of seafood only Paella. They will dish up your servings without the chicken. Our salad arrived and was large enough for three. It was only 4,65!!

Then came the Paella!
Oh my what generous servings too!! We had no idea that for 7,50 you get UNLIMITED plates of Paella. Yes you do. Ours came with a generous amount of fresh shrimp (whole, you peel). It was very flavorful.

We sat near the fire pit and was able to observe the cook and the servers. And watched the fire being stoked. So fun. And the added bonus was we got to see AYO himself cutting lemons, stirring Paella and serving up numerous plate full of his goods!

Such a fun place. Great location RIGHT ON THE BEACH!

This is a must do when in Nerja! AYO is an icon. Been here cooking Paella since 1969!

That this place is still going after fifty odd years is good going, but that the same guy has been stoking the embers all this time is unbelievable.

Watching the team work, with an economy and dexterity that only comes with decades of muscle memory was priceless. Hugely tasty paella and excellent espetos it was a fantastic experience.

Service quick, friendly and attentive, and you’re literally on the beach, so bake a trip here into your lunch plan.

One thing to note is that “the repetitions of paellla are suppressed” which I’m guessing means either when it’s gone it’s gone, or their free refill plate deal is now over. Either way enjoy it!
